Weather probably won’t be an issue come Sunday could be a bit of a mess on Saturday mind.
Brighton played out a 0-0 at Jablonec. I’m not sure if this was a B-team, but it’s definitely a counter-performance for them. They are the richest club in the Conference league, and thus, pressure is on them to lift the trophy next May.
Hopefully that poor result will dent their collective confidence a bit, and we can mount pressure on them come Sunday.
Evan Ferguson, that name rings a bell. He’s been on the injury list since forever
There is a risk of the match being cancelled due to Storm Boelo:

Starts: 12:00 BST Saturday 24 October12:00 (BST) Sat 24 Oct
Ends: 21:00 GMT Sunday 25 October21:00 (GMT) Sun 25 OctStorm Boelo will bring a very windy and wet spell this weekend with some disruption likely across parts of northern UK.
I’ve just noticed that Sunday is “nonsense with clocks” day, so the kick-off time will be 14:00 GMT/UTC.
I think this means it will be an hour later for those who don’t bugger about with the time. Does that mean I get an extra hour in bed? Please let it be an extra hour…
The wind is hitting us hard right now, even disrupting my workflow through the office wallsssssssss.
So Barcola is good to go, Dom won’t be ready but isn’t far off, and Munoz seems like it’s day-to-day. Hasn’t trained yet, but it’s nothing long-term, per Doni’s presser.
All the salads on my doner please, and don’t forget the fucking chilli sauce this time.
Thanks for the reminder
.
Details from the press conference:
-
Forward Bradley Barcola trained normally on Friday having held an individual session on Thursday, and is fit. However, it will be “difficult” for Victor Munoz to be ready in time, with the winger still dealing with “some pain” following a knock he picked up against Brentford last week.
-
Dominik Szoboszlai also remains unavailable but Iraola said the midfielder isn’t far from a return to full training.
-
On managing team selection, he said: “With everyone it’s about feeling as they are. We are changing the team a lot because we are playing basically every three, four days. Sometimes the players are tired or there is more risk involved and we are deciding with more rest or to use more fresh legs. It’s going to continue being the same.”
-
Iraola said the way he wants his team to play means it is not possible for his players to give less than 100% and still win games. He added: “Imagine I am a right winger and we don’t have a right winger on the bench, I will put someone as a right winger. Give everything for 65, 72 [minutes] and then someone will do the 18 or 25. We need to play full gas.”
-
Liverpool have drawn all three Premier League games at home this season but have secured three victories across other competitions at Anfield. Iraola said: “I want to win games. Home, away, we need points wherever we can get them. Three games we haven’t won, but also our [other] three games have been high level – Atletico, Villarreal, Spurs – and we won them with good performances. We play at home the next two games so I would love to win them, but if we were playing away I would say the same.”
-
On the impact of Lewis Koumas, Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni breaking into the first team, he said: “They are supporting each other. You could feel it straight away, even in pre-season with the ones who played the games.”
-
He continued: “After their performances they were looking at each other, praising each other. When they see one of them getting a start in the Champions League or in the Premier League, maybe it’s not themselves but they feel it like, ‘OK, I am close to being there’. It’s something that’s going to be good for them, and also good for the ones in the second team who are looking and have played with them.”
-
Iraola played Ryan Gravenberch in a more advanced role against Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday, and the head coach said although the midfielder is “versatile” and can “do a job” in many positions, he sees him as a number eight.
-
On facing in-form Brighton, who are third in the table, he said: “They are doing incredibly well. They deserve all the praise they are getting and I think there is little doubt that it is a team that is very well coached. Very good in every phase of the game; without the ball they are one of the best teams and also with the ball they have good quality. We need to be at our very best because right now they have confidence - but I also see my team in a good place.”
It would be great if Munoz was at least available from the bench. Hopefully he can play 20 minutes and provide a spark, if needed.
Looked it was a mixed bag of subs and first teamers, I think I counted 7 regulars played at least 30 minutes.
The travel aspect is important to include in that, not sure who they sent over.
Sounds positive for the short and long term on Munoz and Dom. Good that Barcola is available
Brighton coming as favourites, pressures off, just go and express yourselves lads

There has been a bit of a thing about BBB, sort of a Bermuda Triangle or something - Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton.
They have all done very well and are all great examples of smaller clubs getting a foothold and building from there, to become established Premier League sides.
They are all more than that now, too, with European football being achieved and at present Brighton are going very well indeed.
We beat Bournemouth and Brentford, even as both had very good records leading up to facing us (the point is well made that Bournemouth have dropped back a bit, post-Iraola, and they are missing Scott too).
Still, a win against Brighton would give us a nice little trifecta. Tough assignment at present and we will have to dig deep, but I think we will do it.
Up the reds.
Do you see if that cunt Oliver wrongly awards a penalty or red card or dodgy goal against us, I’m going to go fucking barmy.
Welcome to inside my head. Wiring all over the shop, but you get the idea. That cunt Oliver is on my screen for Sunday
midfield will be intriguing for this one.
i actually wonder if Wirtz sits again.
I´d go with that team. Maybe Gakpo on the right but otherwise I think it´s the most balanced.
I assume that´s Mac in midfield.
