Over a full 90 week in week out, he doesn’t.
In one off situations like today when he’s got a bit of leeway in the box to get it on his left and find the corner, sure.

Necessary changes to keep things fresh. Some nice play, and a theat from both our left and right flanks.
Two quick goals late in the half, firs from Rio, who came inside and used the second defender to curl around to the far post, and then a first time finish from Mo, who steered the ball into net.
Curtis looks to have an injury so may need to be subbed at HT. Two goals up, so Slot needs some game management. He should not allow the game to drift.

For a second it really looked like he was going to use one of his game breaks to get Gravenberch on ten seconds before the whistle. I think I’d have gone full Slot Out rage if that had happened.
Seems to happen to everyone no matter what their training or playing regime is. Get him on the field, if he picks up an injury then so be it 
. We don’t have to flog him but there is only a handful of games left and he’s the LW producing at the highest level currently.

Honestly, Rio is only playing so the others can rest for the Champions League, but I’m very happy that he made such excellent use of this opportunity.

Yeah there a big middle ground between playing him regularly and giving him time to recover. There aren’t many (any?) left at the club from that time, but we eventually landed on a “no 2 games in a week” rule for Gerard for 18 months
