Pre-Match: Liverpool vs Leicester, Kangaroo Cup third-round, September 27 Wednesday 19:45

Both were shit for the major part of the season and then were okay during the last 12 matches.

Proved me right there Billy, cheers.

I did think Endo had a good game. I don’t agree that it proves he is good enough for Liverpool. What is upsetting about that?

Who are you referring to and what have they done wrong?

Everton haven’t played any football in 35 years.

mid table Teams like Fulham etc where we need someone to … be cynical because they’ve got the guys who are cynical tacklers , I think Endo can do that job very well.

Nothing is put to rest. @ILLOK has a good point in that the opposition is a bit weak.

I happen to hold more optimism towards Endo than he does. But one good game proves nothing.

Just like one bad game doesn’t make a player shit (making a general point here, not talking about Endo)

Never said it did. I happen to think Endo will turn out to be a very decent player… but that it is very valid to have different expectations for a player especially before he has put together a string of good games.

Didn’t say you had.

I think he’s fine to start in these kind of games.

It was the absolute certainty people had that he was going to be one of the first names on the teamsheet that was bizarre. Obviously he’s not good enough for that.

We’ll see if he’s good enough to deserve starts in more important games in the future, but so far not much has suggested so.

You know what he meant :sunglasses:

I don’t see anything particularly wrong with this take either. Look he’s the wrong side of 30 and here to do a job. Everyone including he knows he’s not here to be a starter. As long as he’s decent enough to fill in and make up the numbers, he’ll do for now.

He’s here for 2 years to fill up the gaps. Liverpool potentially play a very high number of games every season. There’s still plenty of matches where he turns up as a substitute and does the job of seeing out the match as well.

Exactly! We need squad players like this and not ones who will agitate for starting spots when their levels don’t deserve it

Isnt that the bone of contention though?

A good portion of the fan base saying ā€œwe need a real 6ā€ and then wish casting this guy to be good enough to play that role in the critical game in which that group of people think is most critical to have a proper 6?.

I dont think anyone is slating him. It’s more just a case of people like Illok giving a ā€œslow your rollā€ to people who are getting a bit ahead of themselves in their expectations for this guy.

Jürgen clearly has other ideas especially with three 8s that we have. Once Grav is upto speed he’s good enough to be a starter.

Also, I don’t know what people are expecting from Endo. Do we really think other top clubs are such mugs that they’d completely overlook someone good enough to be a starting 6 for them, especially given that 6’s seem to be the rage at the moment and there aren’t that many top class ones going about?

Endo is good but he’s not THAT good.

Needs to do a job till we decide we get the guy we want. Liverpool have 5 #8’s right now (Mac / Dom / Jones / Elliot / Grav) and then we have Baj / Thiago / Endo.

The oldest of the group is Thiago who’s leaving after this season. As much as youth is good , Endo does give that experience as well. He’s someone who’s a captain for his previous sides as well as the NT. Klopp looks at leadership , work ethic , training ethic as well. All successful teams have had the one/two people of these sorts. Chelsea don’t have any and that’s why they are shit. Brighton have Lallana , Milly as those guys who set the standard in the training pitch as well.

Technically he looks good enough as an alternative but the one thing he lacks is pace, but we do need bodies to assist in all competitions.

Szoboszlai’s long range thunder bastard brought back memories of Steven Gerrard.

A LFC player with a number 8 on his back taking the game by the scruff of the neck and leading the club to victory.
