Liam Gallagher is off his meds again.

I’m Not surprised by Liam Gallagher’s comments.
I’m Still Disgusted by Burnham’s!!!
I wish I had a ticket for this one
, I’d give that shower hell.
Come on Reds!
Reminds me of Bronson in that pic

I was thinking more of…

I’m really not sure if our coaching staff and the newer guys even realize what’s coming their way on Sunday. After all, some of them are actually close friends with a few of the City players—from their time together at previous clubs, the national team, and so on—and I have no idea to what extent this is even a topic of conversation among them. I just hope they’ll be prepared.
I think it’s absolutely a topic, regardless of a friendship for example Virgil has with Ake and de Bruyne. I think Tuchel confirmed England players talked about it in camp. Do they talk about it all the time? Who knows, I guess not. Have they at least touched on it? Probably, yeah. It’s also the world we live in now, it’s impossible for it not to be a topic. They are main football actors and like everyone, at least curious. Talking between themselves or with people outside, agents or family. Will they be prepared regardless? I think so, the best they can at this moment.
There is also a certain amount of control needed in a football performance on the pitch, regardless of how the fans will feel in the stands. It could help us, but hopefully not go over the limit.
I hadn’t really thought about Virgil, actually. I know Dom is still really close with Erling, and at least our two French guys are with Cherki and the rest—maybe others too. And for them, it’s definitely going to be intense.
I think some of our boys haven’t experienced Anfield like this before.
This game is where we find out who truly has that Liverpool DNA in their blood, anyone caught not kicking lumps out their players at least 5 times over should pack up their bags and never step foot in Liverpool ever again…
Livvy, meet Commando
Gakpo. Isaak. Out.
with our lack of quality depth in the forward position, this was always the danger.
I didn’t think I’d be saying this going into the season, but I’d 100% start Koumas with Isak out. His pressing is exactly what this game needs. Anfield is already going to be absolutely bouncing, and I think he’ll only feed off that and get the crowd going even more. I’d start Koumas, Wirtz, Barcola, and Munoz up top (with Rio to come off the bench) and tell them to press the life out of City. The crowd will give them all the energy they need to keep it going. Make this game hell for City’s players and traveling fans.
I’d do this too but going by our reported absences it sort of feels like a foregone conclusion anyway.
It’s Federico time…this is where we find out he has been ruled out as well but with one of that Harry Kewell type 18th century diseases like cholera
Not a blessing in disguise, because Isak and Gakpo are both in good form and are better players than Koumas. But for this particular game, I don’t think we’ll miss them as much as we will in the matches coming up. In a way, Koumas is a better fit for the moment.
In that case I would bring Gravenberch in midfield, push Szobo further up, Munoz on the right, Wirtz inside left and Barcola up top.
Highlights of the press conference from the BBC:
-
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that neither Alexander Isak nor Cody Gakpo will feature, but Jeremy Jacquet should be available. Gakpo has an ankle injury and Iraola said it is a “matter of him dealing with the pain”, while Isak has a “small” thigh injury. He also added they are not “long-term” issues and the club will be monitoring the pair day to day.
-
On calling on Lewis Koumas to lead the line in their absences, he said: “Koumas has our trust. I don’t think it’s a big surprise. I always liked the player and he has already shown in important minutes that he is ready to go. We also have other players who can go in those positions.”
-
On waiting for Manchester City’s appeal, he said: “I think uncertainty is not good for anyone involved, but the process is ongoing and we have to patient like everyone else and see what happens at the end.”
-
Liverpool supporters are expected to create a lively atmosphere on Sunday, having been one of the clubs most directly affected by City’s financial breaches. On balancing the game, Iraola said: “The challenge and difficulty of the game is so high that players don’t think too much outside of this. They are thinking: ‘I have to mark this player, I have to deal with this one, I have to be at this level.’ They are focused on those things. Obviously they will have their own opinions but I think they will be fully focused on what happens on the pitch.”
-
On the Reds’ start to the season, Iraola said: “It looks very good after you see we had those two draws at the beginning [which were] not so good. The demand of these games we have now between the international breaks is really high. We play against the top four in the league, Champions League games, the Carabao Cup game against Chelsea, and [they are] also very condensed. I think we will see a lot about us after this run of games. We will know better where we really are.”
-
On facing Enzo Maresca’s City: “Every game is an exciting game. We are playing at home at Anfield against City, who are top of the league right now. They have won all of their games. We will go for the game. I think it will be quite an open game and we have to be ready, and also use the help from our supporters. I hope we are at the level of the game that’s going to be high.”
Strange that some players are so much more likely to pick up niggling injuries. Suarez and Salah virtually indestructible. Isak not so much. Maybe their build has something to do with it. KK was another who always seemed to be available despite the rough stuff he had to endure.
I’ve always wondered where that comes from. Has it to do with how the players look after themselves? Recovery time, enough sleep, enough concentration during the warm-ups? Or is it a genetic thing?
Look at the stunning careers of Ronaldo or Messi: almost never injured, that helped them a lot. Salah and Suarez indeed, and Milner is another one coming to my mind.
