Pre Match. Liverpool vs Manchester City. PL Match 6. Sunday 11th October. 1630 hrs

I’d say

  1. Genetics
  2. Luck
  3. Taking care of yourself which includes right training, recovery, nutrition, etc.

Definitely some sort of genetic thing involved, upbringing plays a part too. Not everyone feels pain in the same way and some people are just more susceptible to injuries. As an example, Ryan Nelson the former Blackburn CB played through virtually a whole match with his hamstring hanging off.

Hopefully true about not being long term.

I really don’t care about the verbals but let us at least keep the moral high ground by not bricking any buses. It would just play into their hands to have the headlines about their team bus being attacked.

I wonder if its a bit like a 100m sprinter who pushes themself to the absolute limit physically in the gym work. It doesn’t take much too tip them over the edge.

I was listening to andy robertson talking about salah and training, pretty sure he said salah wasn’t one for pushing himself too much when it came to training with the ball. so that might be something to do with it.

I’d throw Koumas out there just so that he can press the shit out of City’s backline. Have Barcola and Munoz alongside.

You can factor things in like hypermobility, exo-skeletal configuration, height/weight ratios. My sister is a physio and she says body type is a big part of who stays fit and who is a ‘sick note’. People with loose joints and muscle/tendon excess mobility are a nightmare because when they exert themselves the muscle tends to ‘whiplash’ - slacken and then tighten excessively which results in tears etc…

I think it’s always been the way. Even when there were limited substitutes, you had players that were seemingly indestructible. I can remember Phil Neal in the late 1970s and 80s playing a ridiculous number of consecutive games. I think the run went on for years.

What if someone by chance had this revelation where their inner Black Bolt superpower came out over a simple argument, then yelled so loudly it sent shockwaves just as Cheaty’s bus was passing by which just accidentally happened to shatter the glass windows and perforated the players’ eardrums?

I think you mean Mr. 417 games running by our legendary No.18. October '76 to Sept '83. Unreal.

Koumas hat trick.

Good heavens, I never realised it was that long. I remember the game he didn’t start and no one could remember who was before him. Or who took the penalties when he wasn’t there.

Wish we could get prime Gerrard, Hendo, Suarez, Millie and a fit Connor to play against these, they would give it to City and vent their feelings in every crunching tackle, they wouldn’t hold back.

Feeling very relaxed about this. Going into the break, before all the shit hit the fan, I thought we’d do well to get a draw from this. We’re just not very good right now, that’s the plain and honest truth as I see it. As usual the break has been a fucking disaster for us and I just don’t see where the goals are going to come from.
However, off the pitch it will be a different matter. We are going to give it to these cunts with both barrels in front of the watching world. We have been vindicated in what we’ve believed and accused them of over the last decade.
I hope Jurgen Klopp’s name gets sung with gusto throughout the match to remind everyone what he built here and what he was cheated out of by this fucking grotesque excuse of a football club.
We can’t lose on Sunday whatever happens on the pitch. We’re going to rub their fucking noses in it. It’s going to be glorious.

Suarez’s dealing with loads of injuries now. Post 2019 was really bad for him. I read somewheere that he’s playing through osteoarthiritis. I think he just has an incredible tolerance to playing through pain.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/premier-league-news-live-updates-injury-scores/DSdlKsBlSYDK/KfUw11DS7VTc/

"“It is my body that speaks and the pain I feel a lot of pain every day,” Suarez has explained.

“I have earned the right to decide when enough is enough and to enjoy the place where I play.”

Suarez has suffered internal cartilage damage in his knee, which he has admitted is so painful that he must takes three pills each night and that he cannot extend the muscle fully.

“I have to think that in five years I still won’t be able to play football with my friends,” Suarez added. “The truth is that the first steps I take in the morning are very painful. Anyone who sees me thinks it is impossible for me to play a game. My son asks me to play with him and I am not able to.”

Mo’s different though. He’s not had major injuries. Luck, Diet, Training i suppose.

I think Klopp said something about Sturridge as well.

Maybe, It’s a point. People with higher pain tolerances push themselves harder.

I went for someone who would put in a few straighteners. But that might be a bit too extreme.

I am abit worried Isaak and Cody are out.

I hope Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz and gets alot minutes, we are short up front. They are quick, they play with no fear and are a lively pair.

Difference between Mo and Suarez Mo never got stuck in,he got fouled a lot but far less than Suarez, however, both are machines in regards to their fitness and availability.
