Agreed here too. Jones has been outstanding. I’d say one of the 2 best on the pitch for either side.
The forwards are making harder on the midfield, they aren’t giving the midfield anything to work with.

At this point, I would take Gini off for Kabak. Kabak goes to CB over Henderson while Hendo goes to the DM position, Thiago to LCM and Jones as the RCM.

TAA should have taken the free kick not Thiago. It’s blatant that TAA is on form and striking the ball well where as Thiago has underhit everything so far!

We have contained them fairly well apart from the penalty. We are not creating a lot of chances though, but open game. We are the best team, but City will be very dangerous on counters and may get spells in the second half.

The perfect result for Cheaty, and it still gives them the hope to nick the game, like Burnley and Brighton did. But we play at a higher level than against the other two sides, and can win it too.
That first half has pretty much been one of two halves. The first twenty minutes were all Cheaty: strong at the back, in full control and looking dangerous. Then, our lads became increasingly dangerous on their attacking moves and managed to put some pressure on their opponents. Mané should absolutely have scored what was a sitter from a free header. He missed it.
Just when we seemed about to strangle those light-blue fuckers, out of the blue, a quick counter, Sterling mystifying Fabinho, foul, penalty. Luckily for us, Gundogan sent it into the Kop instead of the net… phew!
I think that this contest will be decided by the slightest of margins. A guy slipping somewhere on the pitch, a goalie committing an error, another penalty, who knows… it’s really impossible to say who will finish on top, and it could finish as a draw of course.
Hopefully our lads will be able to transform one of their chances into a goal, and if it is the first goal of the game, then we can win this one. Fingers crossed!!!

Klopp tried something different for the first 20 mins, and that’s ok. He went I think for the fummox strategy - get Shitty confused and tire them out with their pressing.
Pep figured it out aftet that, so then we out passed Shitty for a good 15 minutes. Fab gave a penalty away, albeit very soft. Stupid though. Still soft. Blazed over, so all is well.
MOTM so far - Shitty’s ricochets. Every time. We make a press/tackle/interception, and it somehow bounces it’s way back to Shitty.
Gini has been better than Thiago but both behind Jones.
