Pre Match | Liverpool vs. West Ham Utd | PL Matchday 7 | Saturday 31st October 17:30 | Anfield

We are bound to have these performances, given the injuries and circumstances. I’ll be happy as long as we keep adding those 3 points on the board.

West Ham honestly have been good in this game, they are sticking to the game plan set and executing well. This is the team that took off points from City and Spurs. Let’s hope we win it from here.

yep… killed both fuckers. thank u

Our front 3 needs to up their game in fact all the team. Bobby should have a rest get Jota in.

Seriously?

No way will Klopp take off Firmino for Jota.
Need a bit more from our midfield as well. Jones just ok Wijnaldum not advanced enough or deep enough when needed.

An early goal behind against a well organized team on a defensive run, playing with us playing our 5th choice centreback. Same as last week, equalizer just before the break, which is crucial.

Dig out a win is what we need, no matter how.

Should have saved that shot!

Aside from the unfortunate header, Joe’s been pretty solid. Phillips impressive, too. Center two not doing too bad against quite a few fast breaks from the Hammers.

Yep it did right over the reply button so couldn’t send anything to anyone…

Phillips is an interesting option as a CB when going against those alehouse teams in the PL. If it was in the CL, that might be a disaster waiting to happen!

Half time report, could be better, could be worse.

Gomez poor defensive header, no distance, not headed wide either, just centrally, edge of box, thank you very much, 1-0. I love Joe but that was poor.

West Ham then took that as a signal to put 9/10 men behind the ball, knowing that they could break, and/or maybe pick up a chance here or there against a sub par Liverpool defence.

We huffed and puffed but the passing wasn’t crisp enough, the movement in the final third not quite good enough. Still, that fella kicked Mo, stupidly from their POV, but it was a penalty. Jim Beglin said Mo went down easily, but that wasn’t true, and it adds to the narrative that Mo is a bit of a diver. Thanks for nothing Jim.

Penalty, down the middle, 1-1.

We need to improve second half. We are much better than them but so far we aren’t showing it.

Hopefully our mentality sees us though, and at some point it would be nice if our superior quality joined the party too.

Come on Liverpool!

Would you seriously replace Alisson? Surely not, best keeper we have had in years.

Surprised people are complaining about Joe. He’s been good.Really stepped up over the past few games and taken a key role in the defense. Yes, he could have done better with the clearance, but he didn’t do anything explicitly wrong. He’s had a good game and has been central to our defencive play

HT 1-1:

A bit better towards the end of the first half after a bad start. A bit more attacking intent and pressure on the West Ham backline, and promptly, we earn a penalty, transformed by Mo. Also, while West Ham started well, they have found it increasingly difficult to keep up the pace of the game. Hopefully our lads can build on that and take the three points, fingers crossed!

My heart skipped a beat, I read it as “get …”

There’s more leaks in our defence than 10 Downing Street!

I’ve been happy enough with both. The header was just one of those things. If he had caught it right it would have set us up on a break.

To my mind a defensive header has to have distance, and if that’s not possible, at least head it wide. Joe headed it centrally, straight to their man, and didn’t even clear the edge of the box. That’s an error for me, and I like Joe.

Apart from that he has done well enough.

I genuinely think he just needs a break. My dad‘s favorite player is Bobby and he is definitely very defensive of him, but I explained to him the other day – and he understood my point when I put it this way – is that it’s not that we expect Bobby to be scoring a ton of goals, he just has missed so many very presentable chances and we as fans expect him to do better with the ones he gets. That said, I think he really just needs a rest to reset physically and mentally – he also had the Copa America last summer and the World Cup the year prior so he has played football pretty much for 3 years straight.
