We will beat these pricks tomorrow. I’m sure of it.
I would take a draw(at least)
City will never be able to replace Kompany and David Silva (and Agüero who won’t play tomorrow). Think their decline from the best team in the league to a Top4 contender has already started last year and I believe they won’t win the title for a long time as soon as Pep leaves.
I am feeling positive for tomorrow and I am kind of ‘happy’ that we will be without Thiago. We don’t need a controlled performance but one of those wild games.
They’re still the second best team in the league in my view and we underestimate them at our peril.
That said, there’s not much of a challenge from anyone else at the minute.
Just checked what City fans think about this game over on Blue Moon: most of them are backing a win lol.
Take back my warning - they’re a small club with plastic fans, dodgy money and nasty fans. Let’s just smash em.
despite their lowly position now in the league, Man City is always a team we want to beat and have to beat just to shut them up. 3-1 to us after we have 5 goals chalked off by VAR.
I don’t like to predict a score line as it usually jynx us but i got a feeling Jota is going to tear them a new arsehole in this game, their defence is being chopped and changed every other game,so i think he’ll cause them massive problems, they’ll miss Aguero and Fernandinhio plus no Mendy (although i rate Zinchenko higher than him a LB),i also have a sneaky feeling that if Matip is back in the team, his aerial dominance at corners and free kicks will cause them problems at the back.
Incorrect, Klopp has won at both City and Everton while neither team can claim the same honour. We have not won at United but then we did hammer the final nail in Mourinho’s coffin in 2018. Those 3 are the hardest away games in our schedule so some difficulty is to be expected and we have won and drawn a few so it’s not all doom and gloom although City away does appear to end in defeat more often than it doesn’t.
Don’t think that is strange at all. They still have a good team and we are not firing on all cylinders either. The 5-0 win over Atalanta was very nice but it was the exception to the rule, not the standard.
This one could go either way, I’ll take a draw, but a win would be very, very, very nice.
@wyld.at.hrt Thanks for pointing that out. Those results were a few years back and I had obviously forgotten about them. Whilst they are arguably our most difficult fixtures, I have often felt that maybe we have been a bit too cautious especially against Everton and United. The last two seasons, when we drew at both grounds, are examples when I believe we were too content to sit back and take the point when we could have gone more attacking and won both games…
Anyway let’s see how it goes today…
According to me as well, and it was £60 million.
If Matip is fit then he has to start. I wouldn’t trust either Phillips or Williams in this one. And we need an extra body in midfield. Even if it’s the dreaded trio of Milner/Henderson/Gini it has to be better than trying to shoehorn Bobby and Jota into the same team. I expect Bobby will start but I’d prefer Jota. Much as I love Bobby he is so out of form to the point where he’s become a bit of a liability, giving the ball away in dangerous areas. We can’t afford to do that today.
Last game against them we went for it and got thrashed. We’ve done well against them when we’ve sat deeper and played on the counter and I hope that’s the approach today. A win would be great but this is a must not lose game.
I think an earlier poster suggested Firminho in mid field. Might be a good call. He has the energy is good at players down and is competitive. Could even do a marking job on De bryune. I would not start Naby , he is to hit and miss IMO. I do not think Jurgen will start Curtis Jones due to lack of experience and physical presence so surely Fiminho is a serious option with Hendo and Gini or Milner.
Ok, ok, so you’ve got pubs where you are! Don’t rub it in please!
This is the most important game of the season, well at least it will be until the next one. It’s an absolutely must win game.
Of PGMOL, and its appointees, we need not dwell, nor make extensive comment. I have not the slightest doubt that they will do their duty to their kandura clad masters, and ensure that if even so much a nanometre of Mané’s underarm hair strays beyond the offside line, then offside shall be called. As for a penalty shout in our favour, it will be an occurrence rarer than an encounter with wise men or virgins in Miles Platting.
Conversely, should a gentle breeze ruffle the perfectly coiffured locks of a shiteh player, then a free kick shall be forthcoming in an instant.
So come on you Redmen, our mentality monsters; up and at 'em.
Although I did promise in a previous pre-match tome, I think it was the antepenultimate or the one before that, to omit λέγοντα μεταξύ, I could not let this week’s missive go without mentioning that the Lowton & District Townswomen’s Guild annual re-enactment of the failed Munich Beer Hall Putsch has, sadly, been cancelled due to the lockdown. Boudica and her ladies do hope however, that you will celebrate its 97th anniversary tonight, in a pleasing ebullition of enterprise, in private, socially distanced support bubbles, of no more than six.
Meanwhile, Lawro has finally broken cover and revealed his malevolent true self. In him, we see Macbeth, Cladius, and Iago coiled up as one with his predicted 2-0 win to shiteh.
Hopefully his attempted kiss of death won’t throw a spanner in the works and upset the apple-cart.
I’ll take a scrappy 1-0 win to us.
Unleash Jota… Just win…
Bobby is protecting the ball right now about as well as denizens of a brothel are protecting their virtue, I’m afraid him in the midfield is a recipe for a quick turnover and counter. If he plays it’s in the front 3 and even then I would not want him dropping deeper to receive the way he has been.f
Ah, there’s the punch-in-the-gut nerves. Time for whiskey.
Life without some examination is not worth living indeed. However, perhaps the Theory of Form may have been more pertinent?
