Pre Match: Newcastle United v. Liverpool, 1230 BST (UTC +1), Saturday 30 April 2022 (Premier League)

Very good 1st half, strong first 10 of the 2nd and these men will be done. We’ll score the 2nd then have a nervy last 10.

Not too bad, fantastic calm goal. I don’t like Diaz on the right.

BT commentators so much better than listening to Tyler and Neville

Professional and composed. Looked comfortable entire half. Just need another goal.

So already well at the stage of Eddie Howe’s plan B which is to revert to fouling and cheating as much as possible for the remainder of the match.

He then won’t shut up for a week about Milner’s ‘foul’ before the goal which will be the only reason they lost, even though he took the ball as clear as day.

Coverage on US TV is almost completely from the slant of NC grievance. Very frustrating to watch sometimes…

Milner was fouled if anything. We aren’t obligated to put the ball out just because they’re whinging.

Should have been 2 - Mane should have scored. And Ali makes me nervous when he tries to play footy at his goal area. It is obvious the Newcastle forwards are targeting him. Milner was awesome defensively but aweful in his offensive passes.

I think it’s the audio mix on this stream. Not sure what channel it is? Michael Owen is on right now.

HT 0-1

Newcastle with the expected 4-5-1, and hoof ball to get behuind our high line. BUt with JOe GOmez coming in for Trent, we’ve been comfortable with that.

Milner has been excellent - he positions himself either wide left or right, to fill in for hte full backs, and to spread play. A typical Milner tackle to start the goal, and Keita keeping his head by going past Dubravka.

Mane with a golden chance to make it two, but surprised me that he decided to take it first time rather than take touch to get right infront of goal.

Newcastle trying to dive at times to win pens/freekicks. REf has allowed the game to flow with challenges, which is good.

BT shows every angle showing a clean tackle, their expert ref agrees no foul, and yet they still try to stir the controversey.

ETA at least the studio guys agree it was a good foul

We all know how the saying goes coined by American boxer Mike Tyson: ‘everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.’

Newcastle resorting to crying, diving, and overall insolence bc the form darlings aren’t getting their way.

I forgot Bruno Guimaraes was even playing until I saw him crying about a call. Coward.

Match on edge - despite ours controlling it well , I feel Newcastle are not far away from getting through and up with something at some point.

Absolutely chuffed with the grit and determination throughout the team - the lads ooze confidence and Diaz , Virge , Joel and especially Naby (remember what happened the last time he opened the scoring? ) have some swagg about their game ,that must be infuriating for the Toon to watch.

It looks much like Villareal during the week but I’m still on edge about this. Need 2 more at least , I feel.

What a time to be alive.

there is so much space in the final third. better decision making and we up 2 or 3 goals

He’s done it again!

Agree here if we tidy up our final 3rd play there are plenty of goals but otherwise we have controlled the game even with their high press. 3 midfielders doing well

We’re so good at staying calm and controlling games now. Some change from Klopp’s early years (and last year!) when it always felt we needed to score 4 to feel comfortable
