Newcastle started brightly, pressing, working hard. We quickly took control.
Very nice composed finish by Keita. Good header Jota on another chance. Iffy finish Mane on another chance, when maybe Diaz could have kept going right down their throats at the goal?
St Max their danger man, but Gomez doing very well there, matching the pace and strength.
Ideally we score another early in the second half, as a 1-0 game is vulnerable.
Still, early kick off, pack reshuffled, so far so good.

Yeah the spirits are high. Liked seeing Trent having a laugh watching back Hendo’s free kick. Good natured — I think it’s just calm confidence.
In previous years, we might have been too edgy or nervous to enjoy anything about the match.

Klopp’s starting line up excellent. 2 midfielders countering the physicality and intensity 1 to score a goal. Still Keita is shit defensively, ok he prances around gets into reasonable positions but doesn’t do anything effective.

I said before hand that 60 for Millie; I reckon we will bring Thiago or Fab on for him or Hendo around then.

I just thought they’d prove difficult to break down. They’re not though, enough gaps for us to play in, which I think we’ve by and large done well.
Good half this all in all, really solid, full control. Newcastle can’t commit to a low and compact block now, they have to stay aggressive. And we’ve seen the first 45 when we have controlled possession, Newcastle kind of look a little dragged out, they don’t transition that well from high to low press. Keep finding those pockets.
BT commentator - VAR saves Liverpool. No BT. The geezer was 5 yards offside. The assistant knew it and raised the flag after it played out. VAR had nothing to do with it.
