Trent Phillips and Salah are poor and our midfield in invisible.
Yeah I thought it was largely OK. Should be up at least 1-0 now with the chances we have made.

Both hendo and milner are too deep as they covering Phillips. We need a reliable CB otherwise I fear the season will end with nothing.
Decent half. Liverpool starting to turn the screw, and in honesty, Newcastle look fucked.

I do believe this to be an explanation in part; as well, the midfield we have is a bit pedestrian. There is not much by way of quick ball going forwards. Added with Bruce playing two banks of 4. Overall, quite lacklustre.

We need to start taking our chances. Could have been ahead by 3 had we been more clinical.

Newcastle busy with pressing - they won’t be able to keep that up. At around 60 mins they’ll blow out of steam and we can pounce.
I agree, needs must though I suppose. I let Thiago sit deep, dictate the play.
Thats the hope Newcastle run out of steam only worry is the throw Carroll on for some ariel bombardment.
There is something missing. A bit of sharpness, confidence or enthusiasm. We need someone to light our fire.

I think that’s a harsh assessment mate. We’ve been decent and are starting to dig out really good chances. Salah should have put us one up at least.

Ive noticed 3 times where he seemed a bit too slow playing the ball out, that last one that cannoned off their player luckily to one of ours the most worrying of the 3. I take Nat for what he is, 4th or 5th choice and hes fine for that, shame our 1st 2 CBs are long term injuries and Matip cant manage more than a few games at a time. Ive also noticed our play from the back is missing a bit now too, VVD is always making killer passes, same with Matip but we cant do any of that just now, Nat just isnt able to do it.

Concentrating on the positives from that first half, I’d say it always looks good for an away team if the home team’s goalie is their man of the half. And Fab, Ali, and Robbo have played at the level you’d expect.
For the rest except Trent, I’d say they can show how much room for improvement there was in this half. Klopp needs to take Trent off. If his teammates could choose he would be. He’s really missing Van Dijk and Phillips is missing a right back doing a decent protective job.
I wonder why when we’re on a fast break with the ball we never seem to score, it usually ends up being stopped and we end up setting up again? Just don’t see that score like it could be! I hope we are more aggressive in the second half! We need to score!
