Not his fault but i think our midfield is spending so much time protecting him that theyre not going forward well enough. Thats no defense for our passing or finishing etc but its the main reason our midifeld arent getting forward as much. It would be the same with Williams btw so im not blaming Nat for it, we just need one of our 3 main CBs back or buy one that doesnt need as much protection

The barcodes have done really well with off the ball holding and disrupting runners from the other side to the ball.
Newcastle are pressuring our defence from passing from the back, but once we break the initial press, we’re launching too many hopeful longer balls rather than sometimes going through the now with spaces midfield.
Still think Newcastle will tire around the 60 min mark and not press so well. Would like to see Mo and Sadio come a bit more inside.
We are not playing well however if Bobby shoots we are a couple up.
They are playing out of their skins so space should open up later on. Just need to make surethey don’t score before they burn out.

Same injury I had when playing rugby i missed 7 months I know he will have grade 1 care but your talking months not weeks.

Agree with this.
Also our midfield is missing fabinho…that sometimes gets overlooked. Hes doing great at CB but one of the best DMs in world football is missing from our midfield.
In the last three weeks this team has put 4 and 7 past two better teams than NUFC.
We’re a bit sluggish, but not in the slightest bit worried.

When I saw the line-up, I wondered if the Milner-Hendo-Jones combo would work. After 45 minutes, I’m not convinced. Hendo and Millie covering the defence in a 4231 is ok, but Jones isn’t decisive enough. Maybe he’ll have to make place for Ox, Shaq or Thiago before we become a bit less pedestrian and predictable.

True, its just unlucky weve had 3 long term injuries to our CBs but also the 1 player we would have considered moving Fab for (thiago) has also been injured. The fact we’re still top speaks volumes for this team.

Come on red men, lets get the job done in the 2nd half.
I’ll worry if we get behind, but yeah, certainly not now. We have been the better team after all, just haven’t created enough yet or been sharp enough, and Newcastle stand well up to some of our reserves, and it isn’t a shock that they can’t yet compete on a high level with stability. Phillips and Jones will have some good games where it works for them, but we can’t really expect them to be icons of top level stability.
But we are the best team by far.
