Yeah, that is…the danger of an agressive high intensity approach, Newcastle. Works for a while, sometimes it just works; but run a big risk of a red and Gordon certainly deserved one.

Rather enjoyed those last 10-15mins.

Less said about the first 30-35 the better.

Neither that challenge nor the second burn one on salah have any place in the game. Neither of them are football tackles. Everyone who hyped themselves up into a froth about this game should be ashamed of themselves and Howe should have done better and not letting his players buy into it

The referee’s complete lack of control early game has ultimately ended up costing them. Hopefully that’s the last time one of theirs tries to break a bone tonight.

Wirtz and Mo Salah hattricks would be nice.

Anyone want to guess who has got Mo Captain and Wirtz VC?

An ideal half, without even playing as well as we can.
A fortunate goal for us and a red card for Newcastle, with their most dangerous player out now when they need a goal back.
I just hope Slot says the right things at HT and we find a way to control the game and kill it with a second goal.

Considering that Newcastle had no end product with Gordon the cunt as the CF. They might just be better off now.

Someone please do that celebration with the ref cam

@Magnus

This is why the relentless negativity bears no relationship to the team we follow.

We are so rarely as bad as the in-match comments suggest. We almost never give up.

All that happened tonight was we weathered the storm of a bunch of cunts running around like headless chooks.

It was like watching a puppy fuck a beanbag…

Cute…now, is that all you’ve got, are you done? Hold our beer.

I think the ref’s handled himself well out there tbf. Maybe could’ve let a few go but he’s been consistent on the fouling. Probably could’ve booked Joelinton early on for the high foot.

Grav and Ibou were clear yellows, as was Burn’s. Correctly upgraded Gordon’s to a red on review.

I can say it. First 30-35, they bullied and dominated us. It happens. It can be disappointing, but it will happen again and again in the future as long as there is football and relatively good teams on the other side who are hyped up.

But after the goal, the game completely changed character and at the end, Newcastle were truly punished for their high physical intensity and now it looks fucking sad and grim for them in the second half, where Liverpool usually tends to inject an extra dose of energy.

We have this.

Was always so stupid for them to get all hyped up over Isak. They’d have a better chance with clear heads

Just need to control the game better

This is essentially a big European night for them. When a team comes to Anfield under the lights any team in the world can get blown away by our intensity. This was their version of that - we were never going to come out and dominate this game. Some people just expect us to be at our swash-buckling best every single game.

After blaming the ref whole half, I appreciate the fact he had the balls to send him off. Maybe if he would have put down the marker earlier in the game, players won’t take liberty to try and do a Joelinton knowing there won’t be any consequences.

I’m shitting bricks every time the ball goes anywhere near Konate.

Grav’s wasn’t a yellow. There were a couple of tackles by Joelinton that escaped a yellow as well.
