Reading between the lines on Gomez I would assume that’s more personal issues or a virus or something.
Doesn’t much make sense otherwise, considering he is suggesting he will play.
If the only alternative is Szobo I’d look to the left and consider one of them. Also we have Grav so that CM will look more secure you’d hope. Maybe Endo is a possibility though if he is really considering Szobo it can only be for 3 at the back.

God, the moaning is tedious. How many right backs do we want the club to carry in case they all get injured?
Right now, we have three injuries across the whole squad and they are all at right back. You can’t plan for that. You can’t buy your way out of that kind of focussed injury crisis.
The season is one game old and we’re acting like we’ve lost ten on the spin.

I think it the way we train them… we need a right back specialist trainer and possibly a right back coach as well and of course get Trent back. We clearly have money, we can get Isak in Jan and put in a bid for Trent.

Slot just said Gomez hasnt been able to train properly so him trying to go head to head with Gordon will be quite the task!

Gordon will play through the middle again, I’d back whoever we start at RB to be competent enough to deal with Barnes.
Surely Kostas could do a job and start at RB until JoGo and Bradley are ready?

Well is he injured or is he fit to start…
Given Kostas is pretty two footed, I’ve always wonder why he couldn’t be utilised as an emergency right back. But neither Slot or Klopp have shown any inclination to play him there at all.
I seem to recall Southgate playing Jones at RB for England at one point.
Just to be clear; that’s an argument for us NOT to do so.

Slot confirmed Jeremie Frimpong, who was substituted in the opening match of the season, will be out until after the international break after “medical staff felt he had hamstring issue during the game” and that was the reason for him being taken off. Meanwhile, Conor Bradley trained for the first time on Thursday but remains unavailable.

On if he is concerned about right-back injuries: “These things happen. At the moment we only have two injuries but unfortunately, it is two in the same position. The good thing is we have other players that can play there. Wataru Endo played there. Dominik Szoboszlai, Joe Gomez is definitely one of them but for him to already play 20 minutes - that is already quite a lot.”

Slot would not be drawn into questions around reported transfer targets Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi, responding: “What I can tell you is not a lot. And if someone else is going to ask that question, it is going to be the same answer. As I have said so many times and it has been shown, I could even impact the game on Friday with the players we had on the bench. It would be much nicer to talk about the players that we have.”

But why is the atmosphere amazing? Because the players can perform.”
