Pre- match: Real Madrid v Liverpool, Wednesday 15th March, 20:00

I also believe it will be a front 4. I think we will look to stretch them whilst not allowing Modric to be comfortable dictating play.

Hendo and Bajcetic out, Doak out. Not a good start

Our starting 11 sorted. We’ll be deploying the new 4-1-5:

Alisson
Trent Matip Vvd Robertson
Fabinho
Salah Firmino Gakpo Jota Nunez

And brace yourselves cause we are just 16 hours from penalty kicks

In this case being negative is being realistic. Klopp didn’t give us 1% by accident. The extraordinary European comebacks such as against Milan and Barcelona were done by a team on the up. This one is most definitely trending in the opposite direction.

Add to that the absentees and the fact that it’s Real Madrid at Bernabeu and even the 1% chance seems generous.

Totally agree @Lynch04 . And if we are to go down then we should at least give them a bloody nose. They fucked us via Salah and Karius in 18, and were jammy cunts to have the lead up to last years final unfold as it did - we owe them and, even if we can’t get through (which we have to believe we have a small chance), we need to make sure they pay a heavy price somehow.

The difference now is that this team is mentally depleted.

I know the odds are staked against us. I know Istanbul and Barca04 don’t happen regularly. But I refuse to give up even before the game starts. I’m not rational, I have my head in the clouds; but I would rather dream than dread. YNWA.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. Just typical football fan bravado, pretending they haven’t been hurt. No-one really wants to face Madrid. They are by far the biggest club in the world. So every confrontation with them should be seen as a David-Goliath battle.

I have more a problem when fans make tenuous links with the past: “Liverpool v Real in Paris! Its meant to be!”. Or in 2013/14 “Its the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough. We are meant to win it!” as if stars align for football teams.

You’re the embodiment of disdane!

Hard situation in midfield…

At some point in the game, if not from the start, I could see us flipping to a double-pivot and then play Gakpo and Firmino as a between the lines duo centrally, one a bit higher than the other, but helping the midfield a lot. Which could basically make it a cage of 4 players centrally, with Salah and Nunez off the sides.

I guess Fabinho is certain to start, Elliott has a very good chance at RCM, then it could be Millie at LCM. Other options are Jones, Keita and Ox (though I don’t see him starting in midfield). Hard to judge from the outside how much rhythm Jones and Keita have right now.

I’ve decided I’m not going to watch it. I’m going to continue bingeing ‘Shetland’ instead and then download the whole match if we do OK. If we don’t do OK it’s back to the bleak frozen wastelands and murder for me.

Love that series, sorry that it ended.

Watching Istanbul final, Olypiakos game and the Barca 4-0 games live were some of the best memories of being a Liverpool fan for me, proper rollercoaster of emotions.

I don’t think we have a chance tonight, but I couldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t put myself in place to enjoy another of those games if manage to pull off the impossible.

Watching it back later if we manage it, knowing the result just wouldn’t be the same.

For that reason, I am going to put myself through it, but switch off HT if things are going south.

I will be racing home from work to meet my lad who will be getting off the bus from school, and we will watch the match.

I’ve already done the analysis with my head, and we all know the score, figuratively, and literally at 5-2.

But now that it is match day the heart is pumping and I can’t wait to see the action unfold.

Is Joe Gomez fit? If so, Im wondering if his pace might help out at right back, against Vinicius. And maybe we shuffle Trent to the midfield, since we are somewhat depleted there?

Big game for Darwin Nunez coming up. I can feel it.

Is it me??..but I sometimes can’t hear what they ate saying in Shetland…the actors tend to mumble…

My only contribution to this thread will be to agree wholeheartedly with this.

Except it’ll be losing 3-0 to Leeds, with fans again complaining that the players show they don’t care and are only up for the big games…

Leeds is away isn’t it :unamused::grimacing:

Hendo and Bajectic are both huge losses right now along with Thiago already out. Will we see Keita? Some one said Jones isn’t even in the squad, that’s a blow. Think we need to start with 3 midfielders, switch to 6 attackers for the last 20mins if needs be.
