Pre-Match | Sheffield United vs. Liverpool | PL Matchday 26 | Sunday February 28th 19:15h | Bramall Lane

Mo and Sadio often try these moves; they always get held or fouled and nothing gets given.

First for me. I shall post up a possible “new” formation to try.

                                 Alisson
       TAA --------- Kabak ------------------- Phillips ---------- Robertson

                      Wijnaldum--------------- Thiago

Salah ---------Firmino or Jones or Shaqiri -------------Mane

                                   Tea Lady

There is flexibility to rotate the front 4. For example Salah up top with Shaq, Firmino, Mane behind.

My idea here is to provide additional defensive cover with the double pivot and try to free up TAA and Robertson some more. I think this was roughly what Klopp had in mind when we signed Thiago in particular and perhaps Jota too. But that idea has been sabotaged by injuries on an unprecedented scale.

Serious question. Who do we have as strikers in the U21’s etc?

Played 442 against Palace in a 7-0 win. Never used it again since. Might aswell try it again

I posted at the beginning of the week that I would like to see the 442 again. Iwould also like to see Phillips and Davies at CB and Neco Williams at RB freeing Trent to play in MF in the hope he would add some dynamism in there. Wont happen though. I suspect we will see Kabak and Phillips at CB with the usual suspects in MF and up front in a 433. At least we have Jota back in contention so that could bring something a bit different up front. We really do need to do something different.

So most probably Phillips and Kabak at CB.

Fun.

Maybe even… TAA Kabak Robbo Tsimikas - Back four.! :flushed:

Yeah, if the situation gets even worse, I think we could see Gini or even Robbo at CB.

:joy:

Would that be pairing 20 or 21?

Fabinho and Milner are unavailable. Hmm, let’s see what we have got:

Alisson
TAA Kabak Nat Robertson
Wijnaldum
Curtis Thiago
Shaqiri
Salah Mane

The bench: Adrian, Neco, Ben, Tsimikas, AOC, Keita, Firmino, Jota

Well, at least we’re going to see CB’s at CB, unless JK decides to play Gini there…

Surely Keita will start this? Otherwise what is the point of him, really?

Bobby needs taking out of the firing line but will probably play the full 90.

At least I’m off work on Monday.

They have only scored 15 this season so we probably need to score two to win.

A good ole fashioned 3-4 result works for me and the spirit of the team. With the winner in the 93rd, surprising everyone that Moss let us play the full 3’ extra.

Good times

I would swop Kabak for Davies and Shaquiri for Jota but frankly I expect to see Firminho start again and see the same old same old. Should win this one whatever. Certainly really need to.

My reasoning is that Phillips has proved himself up to PL standard and has had a fir bit of experience against teams of Sheff U standard and Davies was one of the best , possibly the best, Championship CB. At 25 yo he has played against many teams of this level. Has had a few weeks now to adjust to the Liverpool way so IMO this is the ideal time to start him. Being a natural LCB he should give us a nice balance.

So we play the bottom of the table team. Which means they’re going to defend like their lives depend on it. And somehow nick a goal with their only shot on goal.

Both teams going in to the match with the same league record - 4 losses and only one win int heir last 5 games.

We’ve had plenty of days ahead of this match. Expect to see two CB playing at CB. Concentration needed for the full 90 minutes. Need to somehow win this any way possible - an own goal will suffice in the 95th minute. Scrappy win. Get out of the losing streak.

Here’s a word of wisdom for Sheffield. Struggling teams that have taken points from us aren’t doing well :innocent:. Careful what you wish for Mr. Wilder :sunglasses:.

Players out for Sheffield:

O’Connell, Egan, Basham, Robinson, Bogle, Rodwell, Berge, Moussett

I’m just hoping for some goals, just relieve that frustration a bit. Talking of frustration TAA, Robbo and Mané appear to me to be going toward an unwanted place, I hope they can keep it in check we don’t want to give those refs any reason to wreak our season even more now do we?

Well Jota has put Adrian in his fantasy football team. So I’m presuming it’s an Adrian start. Not happy but if we cannot beat these tomorrow, I’ll seriously fear for us

If our defenders can avoid getting kicked in the back of the head as to not give away a penalty we should comfortably win this. Must be absolutely demoralising for our lads going into games knowing they don’t even have to make a tackle, opponents can assault them and the refs will still give them penalties.
