Not that old chestnut again…
When was the last time JK made a HT change in a game that mattered?
I hope Naby and Trent took their umbrellas with them.
Shades of the match against Villa at the start of last season. Think Fab will be on very soon.
Well they’ve been just a little bit quicker and more desperate than us (it’s fucking Atletico). The crowd is helping them.
I don’t think Salah got a touch after 15’ which means we aren’t feeding it to the right places. Forwards have been a bit flat in their structure for me.
Happy to get to half time at 2-2. We need a response coming back out. Hope to see Fab on for Milly.
We needed HT.
Exciting first half. Combination of great football and poor defending resulting in all 4 goals.
We need to sharpen up but we’ve been far from shite.
Fab on at HT or soon after I think. Need to get him in to try and get the ball, get hendo further up. I’d get Naby off. In games like this he can get bypassed and as great as he is going forward, we need to not be conceding first and foremost.
Why Trent.
That 7 minute spell from our second till they scored was what set the down turn in performance we couldn’t keep the ball.
Not sure if it’s just my emotions but I think that first goal should have been offside for Lemar obstructing Matip. If he wasn’t dallying offside Joel could have reached the line in time to intercept.
Whatever though, after 2 up we were flat
HT: 2-2
Can’t make any sense out of this first half. We were absolutely destroying them. Mo and Naby had provided us a solid platform. But then, the concentration seemed to fly out of the window.
Suddenly, we played at pub team level, especially in a defensive sense, and Atletico came back with ease. The first goal shouldn’t happen, and while the second is brilliant from Felix and Griezman, it shouldn’t happen either if you pretend to be a top team.
So, Klopp has a bit time now to sort things out, possibly with a change, and we go again, hopefully in a better shape than when the first half was called off.
Game on.
Atletico have played our offside trap to perfection to be fair. They’ve really taken advantage of our FBs pushing up. Fuck 'em.
It’s a good thing that they don’t have much of the ball because they look like scoring every time they attack.
Nice ball-watching for both goals and that’s hardly the only issue.
Really disappointed to be going in level after that start. Two really soft goals to concede, although I thought their first one shouldn’t have stood.
I think the problem was that our defence started to drop while our attack stayed high, and that created a big gap in the middle for them to exploit.
Still, a draw here is absolutely fine if we can regain some control. And I still fancy Mo to have a little say in things before the end.
Because Trent was the Bambi on the last goal - everybody shitting on Naby for not getting a tackle in (which would have resulted in a free kick and a yellow most likely) while Trent just watched and backed off into a dead zone - he was supposed to double up in that situation
Geez we miss that Fab bloke whenever he’s not in the middle, hey?
we are a bit light in the middle in terms of options…milly is tiring after playing saturday and we only have fab on the bench

What a collapse so far. The defence (VVD and Matip) have nearly given up 3-4 goals by being so far away from the only attacker upfront, VVD got lost for second goal.
I assume there are a few here blaming Naby for both goals (100% certain) because he got beat twice by skill, yet there was a lot to do after he got beat, so quite a lot of blame to pass around. If you want to blame him, then you might as well blame Mane for looking for a free kick.
Allison saving us so far.
Bobby and Mane not very effective.
Terrible, terrible, game management of the game once we were 2 up. I expect a lot more from Hendo and Milner from a leadership pov when we are in that position.
exactly, thank u!!
If we’d bought Griezmann it would be 0-4.
