Right now we’re exactly conceding one goal per game in the league.
I know a league can be won with goal stats not much better than that, but surely it shows that we have to be more solid again.

Either we defend better, or we aren’t going to win this one or anything more prestigious down the line. Since we seem incorrigible, I am expecting another draw after another poor start and an early conceded goal.
Prove me wrong.
Rotation I’m guessing.
Cody definitely in better form, but maybe due to Diaz being played in central role where he never actually stays. Last night he was trying hard tbf, running everywhere, but nothing was coming off for him and he ended up turning over possession most of the time
That didn’t change too much from how we approached games under Klopp.
The key thing is to not make mistakes.
This is probably our biggest game of the season, until another game is bigger.
3 points here gets us back on track and strikes a mental blow for the chasers hoping our form is back with the pack.
I’d like to see Robbo rested and possibly Macca or Grav only given 45mins. Tricky as this probably means Endo getting more than token minutes but at this point it looks like Arne’s Grav backup is Mac Allister so we need to give them a rest somehow. Perhaps just Grav holding with Jones and Dom in front if Arne won’t start Endo? (Which speaks to needing another defensive midfielder sooner rather than later)
Alisson;
Trent, Konate, VvD, Tsimikas;
Gravenberch
Jones, Szoboszlai;
Salah, Jota, Díaz
Subs: Macca and/or Endo for Grav and/or Dom; Cody for Mo or Diaz; Bradley for Trent.
Not the time or place though?
I think this one is a must win because, despite the much vaunted home record of Brentford - both Arsenal and Nottingham Forest went and won there.
Another draw on the cards here.
Bradley Kostas Endo and Jota in please.
I didn’t see it either but xG suggests they weren’t defending particularly well. Man City ended with over 2xG (but, highlighting how bad Man City are now, Brentford actually had a higher xG at the end of the game)
I didn’t see the match. But the highlights package I’ve seen suggested that Brentford had the majority of the chances.
They will give us opportunities and they will create chances.
It’s going to be a tough match but I’d back our lot against them in terms of quality.
Man to man looked scary last time we faced them, but ultimately we played very nicely round it, and emerged victorious. Hopefully Slot knows how to face it.
The points at Fulham and Yesterday me are points won.
Even though the games against Man Utd and Newcastle may seem better on paper I do feel they were games we dropped points in especially in the positions we found ourselves.
It’s odd because generally I felt in the period of the last 6-7 games we actually played some of our best football in the games against WHU, Spurs and Leicester.
Apart from the shitshow vs United , I’m most pissed off at the points lost vs Newcastle.
I was okay with the Forest loss as that was quite simply a worldie from the forest player who probably would not ever repeat that in his career ever. Callum Hudson Odoi was it ? One off shit does happen.
We’d have been looking a lot better had it not been for the Kelleher debacle.
Start with Bradley over Trent, and Jota for Cody. We need to get back to winning games.
We’d have been looking a lot worse if we didn’t have such a brilliant No2 keeper!
I’m very much in the moment, going game by game, like the team is.
Not looking too far ahead because it’s too hard to predict and not looking far much behind, as we’re bang in the middle of the season, still fighting on all fronts. At the end, we might make some conclusions.
You do have a few moments in the season where a certain result, good or bad, can ring a bell in your head like “it this the or one of the key decisive moments of the season”.
Kelleher made that error right at the end, but realistically that day Newcastle made it very difficult for us and we weren’t at the races, especially from the start. Had that good patch in the second half. Can’t complain if that ended up as a draw, it was a fair result.
I also don’t see much sense in comparing against who we and our rivals at the top dropped points against. We can only look at ourselves and that’s it.
It’s a crazy and competitive league, too many imperfections, so for me there’s nothing clever to discover looking at that.
They have an excellent home record this season but have still conceded 21 goals in 11 there, can see it being a pretty good matchup for us. If they want to continue to play really open and go punch for punch with us then all the best to them.
Yeah they’ve conceded at least one in every home game this season and only kept three clean sheets - away at Everton, Southampton and Brighton. We should really be going for the throat here.
Also. Brentford do have a good home record every season except when they do lose that first home game … It’s then as if the streak is broken.
