Good opening 5 minutes. Wirtz fluffed a couple of shots. Needed cleaner strikes.
Then our Achilles heel. First chance for opposition, goal.
Ekitike with a one on one chance, but the keeper got a good save. Ref was too fussy, and some of the yellows (Dom and Kerke) were strange.
Only positive is that there is only a goal in it, so an Anfield performance needed. Curtis Jones on the bench, midfield tiring in the final 10 mins, yet no subs.
Konate had a nightmare at times. VAR interpretation on the offside saved him and us from being in a difficult spot had we been two behind. At the other end, VAR explanation for chalking off the equalizer was that Konate arm led directly to the goal, yet it hit the keeper, then VVD and then back off the keeper.
Letās be honest, it was just another standard Liverpool performance like many others this season. We really are a bad and poorly coached team nowadays, Nothing to say anymore.
Itās only 1-0. That is retrievable at Anfield. Mind you, it will need some sort of performance, and we havenāt shown much evidence of being able to do that.
Tonight was just poor, all over the park. The passing was poor. The structure and set up was poor. The composure was non-existent. The midfield had holes. The defence was creaky and Ibou was all over the place. The finishing was poor.
Mamardashvili made a few good saves so he emerges with some credit.
The ref was bad and the game was officiated so unevenly, but the biggest issue for us is that we are crap at the moment!
I will tune in to the second leg next week, hoping that somehow, in some way, something approximating the real LFC will show itself.
