PreMatch | Liverpool vs Brentford | PL Matchday 38 | Sunday May 24th 16:00h

I know we botched the title defence long ago, and still struggling for a CL spot.

But still, it hurts to officially lose the title.

Given how bad the season has been in so many ways, I didn’t expect it to hurt this much.

Maybe it truly being the end of an era. Last bits of the Klopp teams are pretty much gone (Jota, Diaz, Darwin, Salah, Robbo, probably Ali and Curtis). We’ve not only lost our title, we’ve lost our identity as a team.

Forget Slot, FSG might be selling us on to goodness knows who.

Yeah. Not a nice feeling.

And with Brentford drawing Man City, we can still lose the last match of the season with 1 goal and get UCL qualification provided that Bournemouth don’t score 6 or more in the last match of the season.

We lose by two or more, and Bournemouth racks up 4 goals or more, we are truly fucked for next season. Anfield at the last day of this season will surely be ringing out with boos all round, souring Salah’s and Robbo’s departure.

Slot may also be looking to create another record of losing out on UCL places on GD with a 5 team UCL qualification places.

What a fucking shambles to this season!

If they lose on that swing then no excuse will save him.

I said he would match the last four points total from last season so we will probably get a point and that’s enough.

Still should be sacked mind.

It’s almost certain that we qualify, even with a loss. Ugh. How the mighty have fallen.

So many subplots unfolding on the day. Farewells to legends. The game itself. The manager, and the feelings of the match going crowd about him. Sending a message to FSG. Supporting the team. Etc. It’s a convoluted jumble of things that are going on.

It’s hard to know exactly what will happen as so many things are in play, but I expect us to do enough to qualify for CL, and I expect the match going fan to show their displeasure - on behalf of the vast majority of all fans - with Slot and where we are as a team.

Gutted that it has come to this, but I expect protest and then action by the leaders.

Hoeness or Iraola. Enrique is too good to be true.

Why wouldn’t you extend at PSG with an open Budget, decent current squad and guarantee of winning the League. I know LFC is attractive but you can’t blame him.

Pep won’t be happy. He would have wanted PSG to grow the trophy haul.

I am half expecting some people here to come up with “mitigating circumstances”

If we lose by 2 or more goals and Bournemouth wins by 3 or more goals, we are in the Europa League, the same league Slot gaslighted the fans about Klopp failing to make it to UCL for 1 season.

Mo Salah and Andy Robertson have to start this.
Anything different is pettiness.
Both are merited starters, given injuries, form and current position. If either are on the bench, then any chance of Slot winning back the supporters is shot.

I hope Virgil, or some of the “leaders” sends a group text to tell the team to take the handbrake off on Sunday. Have a go, pretend the season was better. Give your supporters someting to smile about.

This season has been dreadful. Glad its nearly over

I can guarantee you one thing. If we score first, we are definitely sitting back. This will not change while Slot is in charge. Every match at Anfield has been like this bar the first one (Jota and Andre’s memorial)

It would be naive of us to think any player going to the WC will be thundering into tackles or taking the slightest risk at all… unless Endo gets a start that is.
How we have lacked such a warrior in our midst all season eh… give me him over the 25/26 MacAllister we have had to endure

How odd it has come down to the goal Chiesa scored and may even come down to the goal Salah scored on that first day.

He has no hope anyway,he has lost most fans,is clear, likely most players, must be only the owners who love him, however they count a bit.

I’ve never known a match with so much despondency about it. Bournemouth have to beat City, hope we lose, and have a seven goal swing towards them in the process.

And we’re still thinking “Oooh that might be tight” Christ, we’ve fallen a long way.

Alisson
Gomez Konate Van Dijk Robbo
Gravenberch Szobozslai
Salah Wirtz Ngumoha
Gakpo

Nottingham Forest even…

Erm…I am not here to pour cold water on your optimism…Bournemouth dropping points against Man City means they are just 3 points behind us with a 6 goal GD.

The next match for Bournemouth is NFO. If they somehow score 4 goals with a clean sheet against an opposition whose form is average and we concede 3 without scoring ( that is entirely possible given our form), guess who is going to be in the Europa League next season?

It’s possible, but a 4-0 Bournemouth win to go with a 3-0 Liverpool loss seems like a very long shot, even in the state we find ourselves.

My expectation is we stumble over the line, the match going fans show their displeasure about Slot and the football we have played, we say some goodbyes, and then shortly thereafter Slot is let go.

Iraola or Hoeness seem to be bubbling towards the top at the minute.

That’s not me being optimistic. I’m as worried we’ll find a way to fuck it up as everyone else.

I meant Forest, not City. My maths are exactly the same as yours
