I’d bet on us drawing. He’s copying his last 4 games tally from last season.

Absolutely agree with this, and I’ll be fucking fuming if they don’t start.

So, it looks like we will limp to a qualifying spot for the CL, even though we are currently at 59 points. I don’t know on earth how so much luck is possible, but here we are. Whilst a tricky side to play against, Brentford at home is usually a good fixture for us. There simply can’t be any excuse to not go on that pitch and fight for the three points, irrespectively of what happens at Nottingham, and get them!

Fingers crossed for a good final showing before this horrible season concludes.

And let’s properly say good-bye to these two bona-fide legends, Robbo our never-say-die Laoch, and Mo, our Egyptian King! What a void they’ll let behind them next season! I don’t even dare thinking about it. :frowning:

One caveat to this is that Salah has been injured, and was only fit enough to come off the bench last week.

Hope to see Allison, and us to watch closely if he coordinates with Mo and Robbo in the last waves. It could be his last outing as well.

Well, never say never with Slot though…We conceded 4 against Villa and Brentford is also pretty decent at scoring too. Our front line looks frankly blunt and it took 2 set-pieces for us to score against Villa. They do have the 2nd top goal scorer in the league and we aren’t exactly really good at cutting off the supply lines…

The last day of the PL will be very frentic for us and Bournemouth fans. Any bad news like Bournemouth racking up a 2 or 3 goals lead at half-time from Nottinghamshire and if we are down 2 nil at half time will send shockwaves at Anfield, making the Anfield crowd extremely anxious.

Any illogical subs from Slot will be booed like never before.

It seems that we can see Slot fucking this up with no clean sheet eh?

If the scenario happens where we lose UCL qualification places on GD, I am afraid that the on-pitch award ceremony and departure speeches will be a muted event. If the head coach decides to somehow address the crowd and claims to be staying for next season, it might get really toxic and the boos might ring out so loud that it is audible from the directors’ box.

The players need to have some fucking pride and not get decimated by Brentford at home with the UCL on the line. That shouldn’t be too much to ask.

There is nothing I’d put past us at the minute.

Yeah fair enough. But Mo wil surely want to start this one.

Maybe Konate as well.

Yes, but not so bothered about him. He thinks he is way better than he is.

If Mo isn’t fit to play the whole game, it should be said in the press conference, to manage the expectations of the fans. That way if he starts and is subbed off, or doesn’t start but is subbed on (I can see either side of that) hopefully there won’t be a huge overreaction, as it is about his fitness.

He should start, so should Robertson, so that they can have their moment as they get subbed off.

I started a girl on my high school team who had a broken leg because it was her last game (we asked the other team to kick the ball out so we could sub her immediately). If she can hobble for 1 minute then Salah can start with a bit of a muscle pull! :joy:

Sky is reporting that, in light of winning Europa, if Villa finishes fourth, there will be six entrants into the UCL. If they finish fifth, there will only be five. I thought it was the other way around?

I thought it was the other way round too!

I don’t think that’s right

From the BBC news page…

How would Aston Villa winning Europa League impact Champions League places?

Jonty Colman

BBC Sport journalist

England will miss out on the possibility of having six teams in next season’s Champions League if Aston Villa win Wednesday’s Europa League final and finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Because of the performance of English clubs in Uefa’s three club competitions this season - the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League - England were given one of two Elite Performance Spots (EPS).

It means that instead of four Premier League clubs qualifying for next season’s Champions League, England will have five. Spain have also won an EPS, with Real Betis taking the extra spot.

Because of that, clubs in the Premier League’s top five will play in next season’s top-tier Champions League.

One of the other ways of qualifying for next season’s Champions League is by winning the Europa League.

Villa face German side Freiburg on Wednesday night in this season’s Europa League final in Istanbul, Turkey.

In the scenario where Villa were to win the Europa League and finish in fifth spot, it would mean that England’s EPS will be taken by the Premier League team finishing sixth.

This is because EPS are applied after all other forms of qualification.

What needs to happen for Premier League to get six Champions League spots?

Going into Sunday’s final round of Premier League fixtures, Villa are fourth and three points clear of Liverpool in fifth.

Should they beat Freiburg, the only way England will have six spots in the Champions League is if Villa were to finish in fifth place.

In that scenario, England’s five spots would be made up of the top four Premier League clubs and sixth, as Villa’s qualification would technically be as the winners of the Europa League and not as a Premier League qualifier.

Bournemouth are currently in sixth place and would secure a top-six finish by avoiding defeat at Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season.

The Cherries can finish fifth, but would need to win and hope Liverpool lose to Brentford, as well as a significant swing in goal difference.

However if Villa do finish in the top four, having won the Europa League, England will miss out on the chance of having six English clubs. Instead, the top five would be England’s five representatives in the competition.

In this scenario, Portuguese side Sporting would be moved from the third qualifying round to the league phase. Sporting are the highest-ranked team via Uefa’s club coefficient rankings to have earned a qualifying round spot for next season’s competition.

Because Sporting would be moved up from the third round of qualifying, the two sides ranked highest that are entering the league path’s second qualifying round will advance into the third round.

Bodo/Glimt and Olympiakos are the two sides in line to be moved forward one round of qualifying in that scenario.

In the scenario where Freiburg win the Europa League, they will qualify for the Champions League, and the Premier League’s top five clubs will enter the Champions League.

Pick what we believe is the best side, try play the best possible game and win. I don’t care too much about giving starts to players who are leaving just because of it. They will have their time at the end and also possibly near the end. That said, I’m still not sold on Kerkez so would maybe even prefer Robbo anyway at the moment.

So, basically, Sky is full of shite, again.

Sky pulled the slide which that that information, so I think they made a mistake.
