I’m feeling very emotional and sad about this one. We’ll only have Virgil and Ali ((hopefully) left from Klopps legends. It’s all gone by so quick. What I wouldn’t give for prime Mane, Salah, Firminho, Hendo, Robbo, Trent , Ali etc.
It’s truly the end of an era with these 2 absolute legends leaving. Have we ever had a better LB and RW? Debatable. In my time (starting supporting early/mid 90’s) definitely not.
The turnover is probably typical. It’s 7 years from the CL winning team. I remember when Shanks died, 7 years after his last season, we only had 2 of his players left (Phil Thompson and Ray Kennedy from memory).
Yes it’s typical, as you say.
But this year feels especially poignant, because we have seen not only the passing of Diogo but also the smothering of the spirit that fired Jürgen’s teams.
Yeah I’m not questioning it. Just commenting that it’s sad. End of an era type stuff. When Virgil goes it’ll be totally gone. Hopefully we’ll have a new era to look forward to and one day feel sentimental about though.
For me it’s nothing to do with how shit we are now. If we were winning everything I’d still feel the same about the passing of the torch.
It’s the last game and normally I’m a bit down as there will be no more footy till August . This time however, it seems like a welcome break and in fact, I’m not really looking forward to the start of next season as it’ll be more of the same.
Ultimately, whether Slot is there or not is neither here nor there, it’ll be a season not too dissimilar to this one - another year of transition, of trying to find our way. The back four will be new, the midfield will need a revamp/rejuvenation and the front line also.
Sad to see Mo and Robo go but it is time and hopefully they give us one last good showing and we show the appreciation.
p.s. hopefully the game isn’t be distracted by Slot.
If they’re still awake.
I felt similar when Hendo left as he was the last player signed by Dalglish. Oddly, he will be at the stadium today.
I have no doubt we’re winning this but I’d prefer a draw. Mo to score. Robbo to assist. Both go off after 60-70 minutes separately. Give them the applause they deserve.
Why? Don’t think a draw vs a win will determine Slot’s future. Surely a win to see off Andy and Mo - and perhaps chance of fourth - is preferable
The last match of the season – great. I’m in Belfast today and have better things to do than watch Slot’s bald, far too tanned head flash across the TV screen.
Let’s hope this is his last match. ![]()
How you can be indifferent to Mo and Robbo’s last game is beyond me.
We’re saying goodbye to true greatness today. Let’s hope nobody spoils it.
I am going to be in bits today with my box of tissues. ![]()
It is truly an end of era for Klopp’s heroes.
Me too, I’m already feeling sad about it
Best we win today. Robbo and Mo leaving. They deserve that.
That’s all.
Mo hattrick with a couple of Robbo assists would be perfect today ![]()
I live in Belfast and can guarantee there’s nothing better to do than watch Mo and Robbo’s farewell
I still have bad memories of Gerrard’s last game.
I think Rush was the one that stuck with me most. And of course Dalglish retiring, then later leaving as manager. Those 2 felt seismic to my younger self.
Since then I’ve come to understand it is just the natural order of things.
But the efforts from these 2 should be celebrated today.
Afternoon tea at the hotel at half past two, followed by a bus tour of Belfast’s highlights.
I’ll watch the farewell to Salah and Robertson on YouTube tomorrow.
