PreMatch | Liverpool vs Brentford | PL Matchday 38 | Sunday May 24th 16:00h

I was but really can’t remember what happened in the summer before he was sacked.

If we needed a win I’d be already getting ready for Thursday nights.

Summer of 15 he was seemingly given the ultimatum that if he wanted a chance at salvaging the situation he needed to make changes to his coaching team. He took the deal and allowed the club to fire his right hand man and long time personal friend so that Edwards could bring in some club picked replacements. People responded quite negatively to that, viewing it as a selfish unprincipled move.

People are drawing comparisons to the prospect of bringing in one of Slot’s old Feyenoord crew, but it really is the opposite of that story. We seemingly have at least one spot in the staff to fill with Gio’s impending exit and the mid season firing of Briggs and this is a guy who Slot wanted to bring in initially. So this, if it happens, should be seen as supporting Slot to give him the team he wants, rather than the self-serving unprincipled decision Rodgers took to save himself.

ahhhh…Let me jog your memory back 10 years ago.

It was the last day of the 14/15 season. On the last day of the campaign, we got tonked by Stoke 6-1, ending that season at 6 places with only Europa league football thanks to Arsenal winning the FA cup.

However, Rodgers was given the chance to revamp his coaching team for the following season. His long time comrade, Colin Pascoe was given the boot in June 2015 and he got in Gary Mac and Sean O driscoll in July 2015. The 15/16 season then commenced.

Things didn’t improve and the club drifted to 10th place after that match against Everton in Oct 2015 at Matchweek 8. Before that, the club was in 7th Place. It then transpired that the decision for the sack was done before Matchweek 8. The lowest the club dipped for that season was 13th place in the league. It was probably too much for the club execs and they made the decision to sack him right after MW 8.

By the end of the 15/16 season, the damage caused by Rodgers was so extensive that the club ended up in 8th place in the league and lost the Europa League final. There was no European involvement for LFC for the following season at all.

Thursday’s Child by David Bowie?

Admittedly, from one of his albums that seemingly only I bought.

One of Bowie’s best songs, imo.

RedWhippet got the Bowie one first.

The weeknd, he has a song called “Thursday” from 2011 and so do the Pet Shop Boys from 2013. A folk track ‘Thursday!m’ by Jim Croc exists from 1973 album

Thursday by the Pet Shop Boys, which I think is related to when the weekend started as youths.

You’d think it would come up a lot more being the general night for alternative rock nights at clubs.

Brian Eno’s Thursday Afternoon. A 61 minute ambient piece. Meditative. Suits how we’ve played this year.

The Boomtown Rats - I don’t like Mondays…generally how we felt with the losses this year?
(The background story of the song is grim though.)

Just watching the video of Robbo’s kids sending messages and how they love going on the pitch for the final game.

So therefore, I hope there is no booing and that the crowd give Andy and Mo the proper send off, I’m sure they will.

Robbo’s comments about pre season regarding Diogo are also poignant.

There certainly won’t be any booing when the families are on the pitch, or when Mo and Robbo are being given their send-off. However, what happens beforehand will depend very heavily on how the match unfolds.

Just thinking of one of my favourite Salah goals … the one scored by his daughter and the crowds reactions = GOLD!

I hope they do a phoenix from the flames style re enactment after the match of that. I think it’s got to be one of the most memorable moments in recent years.

Just found the video and posted it in the Salah goals topic.

Emotional watching it back and it is one of the best memories because of the crowd.

No post match for this one. I’m on holiday and don’t think I’ll see the game until the evening.
