Fail to see how barcola changes this?
exactly
He“s quite good 1v1 defensively but he“s erratic and his passing game is very poor.
We can get away with him for now but I think long term he might not be up to it. Although he is young.
This team needs lot of time on the training pitch in organisation and targetting the right spaces. As soon as we lose the ball, there is no urgency to get back in the shape.
Alonso in the short time has drilled he shape and organisation already.
I am sure Iraola will do it sooner as well,as there nothing sweeter than beating Alonsoās team eventually since he signed for those plastics.
Barcola runs away from the defender in Munozās position as he is rapid over long distances.
If Barcola is watching this, he might decide to stay at PSG.
A solid midfield would be Grav and Alexis with Dom in front of them where he can use his relentless pressing. So Wirtz could be moved to wide left or right.
That would be more solid.
As it is, Isak, Munoz, Cody and Wirtz up front need to do more. Hardly any connections
HT 0-1:
Not enough togetherness when defending or attacking. You donāt win a PL game like that.
This being said, itās still small margins. Wirtz and Frimpong will have thought that they were cursed, it was a fine goal.
Much improvement needed. Keep Isak a little while and look if he improves. Unless he does that, bin him off, because we are currently playing with ten men here.
I said a few hours ago the natives will be restless if we donāt get a result. Very restless at half time and ya canāt blame us.
The Wirtz goal was definitely not offside
mobility is key in his system.
Mate, our entire team is getting roasted on here ![]()
Gakpo got off very lightly for not bothering to get back for their goal
Underwhelming first half. Could have been much worse. Feels like this could be a very long season.
Just a quick reminder: we are a āwork in progress,ā so thereās no point in constantly looking for faults. Focus on the positives insteadāitās better for your healthāeven if theyāre just small things.
Well, he canāt offer much because our build is either too slow, our crosses canāt reach past the opposition player and worse, as I said, we force him to come and dictate play as he is a false 9. Instead he should be playing his back against the forest goalkeeper ready to pounce.
All 5 players pushing out playing their own game and Virgil who is 5 yards ahead of everyone giving no fucks at all about bringing everyone with him.
The changes Iād like to see in the second half:
Rio coming on the left, Munoz moved to the right, and Gakpo moved top, Isak benched.
1-0 down at half time, not great. Since the Forest goal we were in the ascendency trying to get back on terms, with the disallowed goal and a nice header from Wirtz, plus a couple of decent Gakpo crosses from the right that didnāt amount to a lot in the end, and a decent chance for Munoz that he hit over.
So there was some fight and some sort of response, although again, we have not been good. Just trying to give a fair assessment here.
Mind you, even when we were putting them on the back foot more and trying to equalize, they were still dangerous, and easily could have made it 2-0 were it not for a brilliant save from Alisson.
Iraola made a big call in the midfield, removing Gakpo from the starting line up. Then again, it wasnāt such a big call as we have three established players and any two from Szob, Mac and Grav is not that brave to decide.
Getting Nyoni in there would be a big call. Iād like to see what the lad can do. He looked good in pre-season and I would be happy to see what he can do, especially as the others arenāt covering themselves in glory.
I would also like to see us sign Camara, as we are not combative enough in the middle and the defensive awareness as to what can go wrong is still not really there.
Anyway, half time, this is still retrievable. Come on!
Incredible. Heās been the best attacking player this half
Get Szob off and Nyoni on
