Well, 1-1 half time. I think we will improve second half and win it well.
Gomez didn’t look, overhit back pass, oops, 1-0. So frustrating. Mistakes happen. Regroup, let’s go.
Salah makes it 1-1. Nice finish.
I thought we would turn the tide and add another one or two. We threatened it, and Nunez might have scored with a lifted, clipped left foot finish, instead of trying to turn back on his right.
We had a couple of looks, and so did they, but we go in at half time level.
The team isn’t nearly as solid as we have grown used to in recent seasons, but it is THIS season’s team, which means we are giving up more chances than we might like.
Be that as it may, I expect us to improve and run out winners by two goals.
Gomez made the foul because he over committed to winning a header he got no where near and exposed our back line to a counter attack.
Joe does a ton right, but has these moments that undoes it all. Cara doing the right thing but simply not being good enough to play Henry 1-1 is not remotely the same thing.
Transition football, don’t you love it? As we redefine our playing style and build confidence in one of three possible systems… It’s a little frustrating at times, can give us heartache but when it all comes together we look absolutely fine… it’s coming lads
Andy has played well. Been an outlet down the left, assisted, could;ve assisted another, and has the fight in him (that mischievous kicking ball on Leeds player was for Oliver letting an obvious foul go on GOmez just before than calling for a siliar foul on the Leeds player.
Marsch has done his prep well and the frequency with which they’re getting in speaks volumes. He should be feeling a lot happier with that performance than he did for 90% of that half. With the exception of Bobby, Mo, Robbo and possibly Thiago, none of our lot has done the job they were put on the pitch to do
Hea been poor.
Hes given the ball away, at fault for the goal, backed and backed off, given free kicks away, missed the ball…i think that covers his first 45
How could it be Van Dijk or Alisson’s mistake when the area the ball was played wasn’t somewhere anyone would expect Gomez to play. I love Gomez but that was unnecessary and a look up would have made him either play it back or just clear it. He seems a little off focus to me at times, which wasn’t the case always.
He has a huge task of covering for Trent which the midfielders no longer do, so can cut some slack for him when he’s put under pressure, but not under situations which are unforced errors like today’s.
