Think the only questions here are do we persevere with the 4 CM’s and will Robbo be given a rest.
I’d have thought one of the mids will drop out and Gakpo will start on the left with Jota coming in too.
These are a threat going forward and they will target Trent with that horrible fucking gargoyle Gordon throwing himself all over the place.
They are leaking goals though and if we take our chances I fancy us to put at least 3 past them.
Could be a very interesting atmosphere at KO as Arsenal will be at HT in their game at Forest.

Good summary here. If Jones still feels good, I’d like to see him give Macca a breather in this one, and we play a front three of Mo/Gakkers/Diaz. Newcastle are a decent side being coached well, but as you say they’re leaking goals these days and we can hurt them.
Isak for me is the second best player in the league this season, and a guy we should be looking to bring in to replace Nunez. They have other decent players too but Isak is the danger man. Snuff him out and we should win this handily enough. Joelinton my arse.

Robbo needs a rest. He’s not equipped to play back to back games.
As far as the 4 CMs go , I do believe it’s a tactic which was developed keeping City in mind. Don’t see that being used for Newcastle.
Newcastle offers other challenges , not least the deplorable twat Gordon and the classy Isak. But they’ve got their frailties as well. Also Howe seems to have rested the likes of Tonali for this match in particular (came on only as a substitute in the previous match)
Trent will be getting double teamed by Hall and Gordon. City didn’t double team down Trent’s side because they don’t use conventional wingbacks. I’d be happier with Bradley on in place of Trent for this match but it evidently isn’t possible.

Picking Nunez in place of Diaz and Jota because I think we need a bit of physicality in the CF position.
Hopefully Gakpo gets into form quickly. His link up play and understanding with the other forwards+Dom makes him indispensable. Not to mention his very handy goals.

I’m hoping that our lads aren’t too tired after yesterday’s game. Maybe it was just knackering watching it? We are off for a week after this, so we can go full strength and not worry about rotation.
By the way, why the stupid kick-off time? It’s a midweek game so people will have to get up early the next day. I just hope we don’t have anyone leaving before the final whistle because they have to catch the last bus/train.

Nah, Nunez from the start would be my last option here. Just not in a good moment, he’ll get more chances another day. Newcastle are a serious side, we need 11 players involved in all phases of the game.

Amazon started to do that due to them only showing midweek games and it now seems to have filtered over to TNT it’s annoying. Kick off should be no later than 8pm.

Followed their game against Forest at the weekend… In that first half, down the Forest right side, they tore them apart…! Might be the same tactics they will deploy against Trent.
Bonus for our boys not to have Joelinton going about kicking each of them… Dress rehearsal for the final next month… Batter them and it will stay in their heads… but a drab 1-0 will still bring us the 3 points we want eh
