PreMatch | Liverpool vs Newcastle United| PL Matchday 28 (Game #28)| Wednesday February 26th 20:15h Match Days

Yeah I think it was probably more tense as a fan than a player. I really don’t think we exerted ourselves at all yesterday. I expect the same XI against Newcastle.

Do we have Bradley back already?

He’ll be too tired from the double negatives

No he won’t be back for this 1.

Someone should say this to Szoboszlai.

‘We will get tired too. Nothing worth having is easy. And when the final whistle goes Dominik Szoboszlai collapses, drenched and magnificent, a man who never stopped running’

You meant to quote Nobluff’s erection OP, started with the obvious “Good summary here” comment, but once you realized you misquoted, you felt like “finishing the job like a man”, right?

If the young kid Lewis Hall plays in this game… It will give us an opportunity to take a closer look at him becoming the heir to the left back berth of Robbo…

I read somewhere, this kid is touted as a possible option in the summer, because he would offer, not only an immediate short-term solution in securing up the left back immediately, or at least during the handover transition, but as he is still quite young at 20yrs old, he would also offer a long-term solution, by being here for many years to come…

Recent performance report against Nottingham Forest -

Bruno Guimaraes spots Lewis Hall moment of class as Newcastle stats confirm incredible display

Newcastle United have a proper, proper player on their hands in Lewis Hall. The 20-year-old scooped the Man of the Match spoils in Sunday’s 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest, having a hand in everything that went well as his side ventured forward.

Hall set up Lewis Miley’s opener, should be credited with setting up Jacob Murphy for Newcastle’s second, won the penalty that Alexander Isak converted in the first-half and started the attack that resulted in the Swede making it 4-1 shortly after. Not a bad afternoon’s work.

Defensively, Hall is improving with every game too. He is evidently getting better in 1 v 1 situations with his back to his own goal and looks capable of matching up to almost any right-sided attacker in the league.

But it is not just his attacking or defensive exploits that are impressive - his calmness and confidence is also clear to see. One moment in the second-half summed this up - and won him some praise from team captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Hall had the ball near the touchline, just a few metres away from Eddie Howe, and looked to have been trapped in by a sea of Nottingham Forest bodies. With no passes on, the left-back took it upon himself to wriggle himself out of the tight spot.

Ola Aina was left on the floor, Morgan Gibbs-White could only stand and watch, Callum Hudson-Odoi couldn’t dispossess him and Nicolas Dominguez had to foul him as Hall managed to free himself with such smart footwork. As the youngster lay on the ground on his front Guimaraes made his way over to him, dragged him to his feet and gave him a high 10 for his efforts.

That was just one of many smart moments by one of Howe’s undroppables. Moments after drawing the foul when he looked certain to lose the ball, Hall timed a last-gasp tackle to perfection to stop Anthony Elanga shooting, giving away a corner rather than a penalty in the process.

The statistics also back up the obvious praise for Hall too. The former Chelsea star won the most tackles of anyone on the pitch (5), played the most crosses (8), took the most touches (93), won the most duels (10) and created the most chances (3).

It is not too long ago Howe was shielding him from regular first-team minutes, deeming him not ready to enjoy such a role in Newcastle’s backline. Now he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Grabbing players from SandCastle will be an expensive exercise. I expect we will look elsewhere

Maybe…
LFC will pay what they think someone like him is worth.

Whether that is in the same stratosphere as Sandcastle valuation, remains to be seen eh… but the lad seems to tick an awful lot of boxes for one so young

Lewis Miley also looks good from what I’ve seen - although whether a box to box midfielder with an eye for goal is a priority remains to be seen.
