Fuck I really want to win this game, and this trophy.
I can’t remember the last time I got pumped up for a FA Cup game (probably because we usually go out in the 4th round).
Without having looked up the stats, our record vs them when we’re not at home is really not good. We either lose or draw every time. Hopefully being fresher, having a few more key players ready, and having 50,000+ reds belting out each song will play in our favour.
Let’s go out there and play our normal game. Get fucking at them. . Get in their faces. Play with 100% intensity. Look how that worked for us in the past:
Jan 2018 we turned up full throttle and went 4-1 up against a City side that was unstoppable in the league.
April 2018 we won 3-0 in the CL (in my opinion our best ever performance under Klopp, and Trent’s best ever defensive performance, he had Sane in his pocket) by suffocating them.
November 2019 similar situation. Took our chances and stifled their creativity.
I hope we play our game and not be scared of them and their quality.

I’m going Konate over Matip. Big game for him but felt Matip got done for speed a few times with Trent.
Midfield choice: Fabinho - Must improve from last outing against City. If he has a 7/8 out of 10 we probably win.
Thiago - Must start. Quality.
Hendo - Love him, but he’s only starting because we have no one else. I just can’t see Naby starting such an important game, would go Harvey but seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
Attack: Jota, Diaz and Mo.
Mo needs to sort himself out though, again like Fabinho, anything over a 7 for him and we win imo. Diogo maybe Bobby can come in for him but Diogo just seems to score.

Tempted to start with Firmino in this one. His ability to organise a press an drop into midfield as an extra body might rectify some of the issues we had last week I feel.

My thoughts exactly. Can’t have the same first 15 mins as the last game, Bobby dropping back hopefully will negate that. Diaz and Diogo on at 60 mins.

Yeah Bobby keeps things steady. We lost the midfield battle last time hopefully if he drops in it will help us more. Then the boys to come on around 60 ideally

Also City struggled to deal with Kane dropping into midfield from the CF position. Bobby doesn’t have the same range of passing but he can do damage from that area regardless.

It’s not really about us improving. Let’s ask what City will have to improve in the second half when they’re 4-0 down. I don’t have any doubts we’ll win.

Cheaty vs Liverpool: 5-0 (PL, Sep 9, 2017) Mane was given a red card around 10 - 15 mintues into the game after that phsyco nutjob Eduardo tried to headbutt Manes’ boot when they we both challanging for a 50/50 ball, befor ethat red we were all over them and already had their 2 left sided defenders on yellows due to them not being able to handle Mo.
Cheaty vs. Liverpool: 4-0 (PL, Jul 2, 2020) We had just been crowned champions and the team looked like they had still been celebrating that early morning. How bad must you be to only win 4-0 against a team that has been on the piss for 3-4 days?

And the other was in a period in which we were still trying to find a solution to half of our team being injured.
First 15 of that one after we won the title Salah hit the post and we had a gilt edge chance.
As we hadn’t won the title previously we’d never had that post title match.
I think the two games this season tell you were these two teams are, probably edged the game at Anfield and they were better than us last week and quite considerably in that first half.
Steffan, Grealish and Ake rumoured to be starting.
