I really like Wharton but buying him to play with those players is missing something. What is he adding except a long ball over the top?
And there is no slot to take the blame this season. He has nowhere to hide. It’s either he showed his worth or leave as a failure

Did we really need a no 10? We haven’t had one since Coutinho. And the version of Coutinho that we had is streets better than Wirtz. In every aspect.

Munoz will look alot better on his natural left wing position, but Hughes is in Paris trying to sign Barcola instead.
Wirtz did not even cook with Pavlovic/Kimmich behind him at Germany.

Well it depends doesn´t it.
As Cherki shows, a number 10 can be amazing but to fit into that team and play exactly the same way was a terrible idea. We didnt need him to play with those players.
However, if we had bought a midfield and wide players to complement, I am very much a fan of playing with a no10.
But yes, Coutinho was streets ahead. Even with the mitigating factors, Wirtz is not taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Though Coutinho had Gerrard Suarez Sterling and Sturridge

What is the point of Wirtz? If you say “unlocking low blocks” when he he ever done this consistently? Here or at Leverkusen?
