PreMatch | Southampton vs Liverpool | PL Matchday 37 | Tuesday May 17th 19:45h | St. Mary’s Stadium

Is that Milner as DM? I’d still favour Henderson there if he is up for it.

Henderson needs a rest after 120 minutes on Saturday.

Nearly everyone needs a rest

I bloody well do, and that’s just from watching the final.:nerd_face:

Yeah, but Hendo has a history of getting injuries, is carrying the most minutes in his legs of all the players, and is the player we can least afford to lose.

But we have three massive games left and we have to win all of them.
Resting is a luxury we cannot afford.

Left field thought vs Saints.
Joel at 6 with Konate/Gomez at CB.

This has been suggested before but do we want to start experimenting on a “must win” game? This is one for pre-season or dead-rubber games.

Only if the concern is that Hendo cannot compete for 90 minutes at present.
I am loathe to see Milner at 6, good as he is he simply doesn’t have the legs. Particularly if VVD is out.

Where is the photographic evidence?

They have 1 win in their last 10 games, they will surely want to end on a positive note in front of their supporters.

They can be tricky, due to their aggressive style, but that can also be counterproductive for them, especially against a team like us.

Klopp beat Hasenhuttl’s Southampton 7 times out of 8 so far. 3 out of 4 at St. Mary’s.

So, as long as we play a quality/normal performance and don’t do anything stupid, we should be fine.

Confident we’ll pick them apart and exploit the spaces they leave.

Given all the talk about Henderson being too big a risk, and Fabinho being unavailable, I’m wondering if there’s a chance we might see Clarkson or Morton playing this…

Its only supporters talking about Hendo? Klopp hasn’t said that he is a risk.
Maybe he trusts Hendo’s fitness more than we do?

We got Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Jones, Elliott all available.

Yes, but what I’m saying is that I could see the medical team deciding it’s not worth the risk, and starting Morton with Milner for the experience, or something like that. He’s played more challenging games for us before.

I don’t think Klopp is thinking about what City may or may not do. He may be thinking about the final, but there are no circumstances where he wouldn’t be putting out the strongest possible team for this (while also not taking risks with the players who are in doubt).
If the likes of Morton play, it’s because things are really dire in the midfield. Plausible we involve Jones/Elliott/Ox but I think if Fab/Hendo can’t start then perhaps Milner/Thiago/Naby will play the deepest of the three in a playmaker role.

He started Morton against Spurs.

Given that goals could come in to play to decide the champions, this one could be silly. Silly bets are always that and never gamble that which you can’t afford to lose. But I’ll be having some 5,6,7,8 nil wins.

Klopp on Fabinho
“Progressing very well but won’t be involved tomorrow.”

Looks like no one thought to ask about the injuries to VVD or Salah?
