Mcgoldrick on not much chance of a goal so.

These spiders are reminding me of the peripheral vision eye test where you see a lighted dot and press the button as soon as possible.

Looks like Man Cheaty are learning the art of conserving energy instead of showboating for the full 90minutes… Lets hope these Cheats still start to tire post Christmas…

Oh dear …Macca getting Stirling and Brewster mixed up :flushed:

I suppose it is easy done as they did both play for us.

Yeah, unfortunately, they have been good the second half. Almost all their passes connect even when pressed, and then Sheffield gets very few turn overs. But I take solace in the fact that they have been unstable so far. They haven’t had such solid passing each game.
Also, their defence is not very good when met with speed.

Sheffield United could play until next Sunday and still not score. They look extremely, extremely toothless.

They’re not stupid enough to pay Ā£15 for Burnley vs Chelsea, at least.

Anyone else notice how Pep’s tactics are beginning to mirror Jurgens… Left footed Mahrez on the right wing. Right footed Sterling on the left wing… Rodri sitting in front of the two centre backs… Walker thinking he is an older version of Trent attacking at every chance… etc
Maybe Pep is beginning to realise… If you can’t beat Jurgen… then join him

Eh, Sheffield were not good enough today . They got a very few chances but were not able to take them, City’s keeper was good and alert. And City have those fantastic ball control players, seldom losing the ball, controlling and stretching Sheffield. From what I saw, City had a good game and then it is difficult for sheffield. Game could have been different had Sheffield scored on one of those few chances they had, would have maybe altered a bit City’s play and made it easier to counter.

But City will win some games realistically. They are a good team after all. We just have to do our own job in enough matches. I don’t think City will be stable across an entire season and we have already seen some problems for them in a start where they have been unstable.

Honestly I think this season is going to be a war of attrition. I don’t think the team that wins will run away with the League, it’ll be the team that can grind out results when not playing well. Combine our ability to do that with the newfound experience of winning the title last year — and thus putting to bed all the shite about ā€œthey don’t have the title-winning experience in the dressing roomā€ — and even with our myriad issues at the moment I think we’re right in it. If nothing else, it has removed any ability for complacency.

Interesting XI (midfield especially) from Chelsea today, looks like it’s Kante and Mount in a midfield two. Maybe 3 with Havertz, but pretty offensive on paper. Werner on the bench in rotation, makes sense with Burnley probably not leaving any spaces.

We are certainly in it, but it is too early to be confident in my view. We have yet to find something resembling our top form, and while I too love winning ugly it makes me wary. You can only win ugly so many times, it becomes a bit of a dice game and I am not a gambler. Inferior opponent will score on chances now and then if you give them 4-5 too often.
So I am not yet confident, I am hopeful, eager for the season and living in the moment football-wise. It is exciting, a bit nerve wrecking and some sort of dopamine drug
Looking forward to us playing very well 4-5 games in the row so I can allow me myself to be a bit less wary though !

What is Alisson Becker doing going across my screen every 5 seconds?

As the (horribly offensive yet hilarious) Borat would say of the beetles he encountered in that Bed and Breakfast, ā€œthey have shifted their shapes!ā€

A follow up on this: What makes me even more hopeful is that while we have yet to find top form and anything resembling stability, no one else has done that either. The table is interesting like that. I believe maybe you, Petergriffin2020 may be right concerning attrition.
However if you are, injuries on key players becomes particularly damaging and everything is not looking rosy for us in that department, and you have to be an idiot not to worry slightly about our defence of course.
So I am not sure I hope for an attrition battle this season, not sure that makes our season easier. Some other teams have relatively large good squads to compete with. So the hope is that we find stability and top form over many games.

Burnley 1 point. I do not entirely remember how they played last game. But if they play their best, maybe they can get another if Chelsea does not play their best. Certainly could happen.

I don’t give them a chance this year, been found out by continuously playing the same style. I feel bad for Brewster, he’s not going to get many scoring opportunities.

I have not entirely understood the ā€œbeen found outā€ principle that so many use and I really mean no offence, just trying to explain how I think. I mean many teams, even we do that, play the same style in general, but in the premier league coaches and their assistants is on such a level and have so much resources, that they know how the opposition plays, certainly in a high profile league. I really don’t think it works like that, I mean that a team gets ā€œfound outā€ the season after. Such big professional apparatuses that Premier League football clubs have mean that they know most opponents and their formations well enough quite early in the season I think.

So I don’t think ā€œhaving been found outā€ is a real thing that happens that have much to do with some clubs fortune waning, I think there are other factors behind it.

Watching the spiders is more interesting than this match.
