Premier League 2020/21 (Part 1)

Played 10, won 6 and lost 4. Winning 6 is all very well and good but losing such a large percentage is not ideal. Very binary form. The wank fest amongst the pundits will be short-lived as I don’t really think they will do well this year while a small squad and the fact they will be in the Europa League in the New Year are all likely to contribute to their PL finish.

Yep go Hammers.

But I can see another late Bruno (ain’t he starting to be a smug cock) Fernandes penalty

It must be a cause for concern that, for all the money they’ve spent, they’re still utterly reliant on OAP Vardy to win games.

Just saw the update Ingsy trained yesterday with his Southampton mates and is in line to play v Brighton on Monday. Really happy for him.

I have a feeling I’m going to be proven right about Leicester. I said after they beat Man City 5-2 that the actual set up and performance was worrying in the long term. All the calling cards of a Rodgers blow up and since then they’ve been pretty much terrible.

He’ll probably get sacked at the end of this season.

As Zinny said, it’s hardly great insight but it can be jarring to see it evidenced, just how much difference a reliable (or better) goal scorer can make to a team and thus how much better a coaches work looks. It’s forgotten now, but Poch was struggling at Spurs for results in his first season. You could see what he was trying to do but the results weren’t there. After half a season of doing better than expected in the Thursday night Europa League side, Poch finally broke down and switched Kane to the first team and all of a sudden they started winning regularly and it was so much more evident the good things he had brought to the side. A happy accident (I dont think he was planning for Kane to be that good), but one that was required for his work to produce results. I think Torres had the same effect for our side. I had fought for a couple of years with some people about why Rafa’s formation wasnt necessarily defensive (“we need to go two up at home at least”) it was just missing the right players, then Torres showed up and the ideas became clear. I think a goal scorer of that caliber can mask a lot weaknesses as well.

Well last 5 games West Ham have won 2, drawn 2 and Man Utd have won one so it’s not a bad record.

Bruce is the one who has a criminal record against Man Utd, just odd, I think the win last season was his first in about 50 tries.

Remember last week when I said I could feel a result against City was imminent?

Pretty sure I meant today.
