Premier League 2020/21 (Part 1)

Haha. NBC debating the managerial clash of Titans between Moyes and Ole. Porridge versus oatmeal. Who will win!

Maybe Frodo?

It’s just a matter of how many city will win by today. :anguished:

Why can’t teams go longer than five minutes before letting City score ?

That’s enough for me.

Fulham are fucked and will get hammered today by at least 4 upon which the punditry at large will proclaim them League Champions and the best team in the world with the best manager in the world… until United play and if they win the punditry at large will proclaim OlĆ© justified as being and with the best CB, the best RB, best AM and best striker in the league they surely are the dark horses for the title… until Chelsea okay and if they win the proclamations of such a talented squad and manager being utterly in the race for the title will be deafening… until Spurs play and if they win of course it’s a no brainer, Mourinho has been there and done that and is taking Spurs to the next level and with the best striker and AM in the League they will surely be the best bet for the title… until we play and hopefully win whereby the proclamations will be… ā€˜Ah’

Yes my friends, you can look forward to all of that and more in the next 30 hours or so. Keep your barf bucket handy.

Do you write the script for MOTD?

You know the state of Fulham when their captain is a guy who’s been there for 2 months and is on loan from another club.

Anything on Pulisic for those such as myself?

City’s tendency to throw points away when a second goal won’t come is why I’m still listening to their bottom half battle. Very strangely, I’m still clinging onto a Fulham win scenario…

Sterling diving again and gets pen.

Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssterling has won / conned more penalties (20) from opposition, than any other player in Premier league history. Not football anymore when he gets away with it so easily

That penalty was utterly absurd. This is the result though of such mindless demands for ā€œconsistencyā€. Contact is now automatically a foul, and it’s shit.

US coverage making a big deal of fans being back for the West Ham-Utd game. I get it’s a milestone (and Id be happier about it if it was connected to real joined up thinking on public health policy), but it’s set up to be a massive disappointment. 2,000 fans in a big stadium is some way more creepy more than an empty stadium

The London Stadium has no atmosphere when it’s full, so nobody will be able to tell the difference.

To be fair, it is the same when we win, we just don’t notice it to the same degree because most of us like to read positive Liverpool stories. Fundamentally, sports tabloid journalism is stupid though.

Incredible talent, probably one of the best in the world. Has everything to be a world beater and he is under the right manager like Lampard who is an expert at developing young players as we have seen. Sky’s the limit for him but for me, Owen, he just needs to show that little bit more. Y’know, that grittiness that we showed in our day. I remember being away at Sheffield Wednesday in the old Second Divi…

Anyway, I didn’t have the time to watch the first game today. Seems it has developed into predictable patterns.
Fulham will struggle this season, I was positively surprised by their points last round.

By the way, talking about UK sports tabloid journalism, one of the very many, things that grinds me, is how they have 4-5 photos of the same manger (i.e. one where he smiles broadly, another where he looks glum), and then just create a story using a for instance glum picture. It is effective, it is why they do it, but man is it stupid when you pause to consider it. Usually, the manager in question have just been photoed in an ā€œbadā€ moment and is not at all as glum as they claim. I think this was the first thing I noticed when I started reading English sports tabloids. That they don’t go out and get fresh photos that is, but re-use these standard ā€œhappyā€, ā€œglumā€, ā€œsadā€ pictures every single week. This kind of photo-tricksing has more in common with propaganda than journalism I would argue.

Still only 1-0 without the soft pen.
