Premier League 2020/21 (Part 1)

You wait until the ball has gone out of play to come off, not just walk off mid game.

He could have stood in the middle and screamed at teammates to drop back and cover for him or at least sat on the floor and hope the game stopped. He could have tried to foul a Spurs player to stop/weaken their counter. He walked right past Kane to get to the touchline, why not at least try to stay close?

What he did was pretty inexcusable, I’d be pissed off if that was a Liverpool player.

Got to correct myself here as I have today spent 20 min browsing this Milwall forum. I am a bit shocked tbh. “Far Left communist supremacist group”, “Borderline terrorist groups”, “Woke lefties like Piers Morgan” ( very conservative guy as far as I know).
This doesn’t seem like a football forum, more Ultra Nationalist mob.
And it is not just this thread, the entire forum is infested with this stuff and they all seem to agree as well: https://millwall-forum.vitalfootball.co.uk/threads/we-need-to-stand-our-ground.45607/

When that is said and done, I think the taking a knee thing is a bit silly myself, particularly since it loses a bit meaning when you take some important movement going on in the US and just copy cats it to the UK, but I would never be so angry because of it (as in I think kneeling “against racism” outside the US, where that spontaneous protest started, is a bit stupid myself, but whatever, not like it is a big deal to get irate over). I just don’t understand the rage, no one gets hurt by the kneeling stuff and it really shouldn’t be that incredibly provocative unless you actually have racist tendencies.

Anyway, as to the Premier League, 3 points to Brighton would make Arsenal’s situation even more dire, while 3 points to Southampton would make the Top 6 more interesting. Hmm, who to root for ? Southampton I think.

This is true. The injury was legit and expectations of him being able to play on and contribute defensively until the ball went dead are way off. However, walking off is naive, and arguably unprofessional. If he went down the ref may not have stopped the game (probably wouldnt have), but it would have at least alerted the rest of the Arsenal players to a hole that needed to be filled in a way that simply walking away from your position doesnt allow for.

Maybe maureen is saving him for the Liverpool game just like we are saving Thiago for that game too?

Any actions or reminders in fighting against racism is never “a bit” silly. It’s definitely not silly when one is on the receiving end of racist remarks or actions.

In the US I don’t think it is silly at all (as I said). I think it is a bit silly when you extrapolate a spontaneous US protest against systemic police racism and systemic racism in general to the UK and elsewhere in Europe though, but that’s my view. There is a major problem with racism also in Europe, but it is not the same. I never understood why Norwegians for instance protested in Oslo during a pandemic against the death of Floyd George, which seemed irresponsible to me on one hand, while also strange since we don’t have that police violence problem they have in the US, but we do in fact have other problems with racism. Our problems are for instance such that if you have a foreign name, you have less a chance of getting a job, particularly if you have an Arab name etc., and I could go on. There are many important issues. But they are not the same as in the US, and our fight should be different in my view, we don’t really have a problem with police violence. Importing US social struggles isn’t really to my liking. We should have our own.

Yeah, leaning to Southampton because it is a team that for some strange reason gives me good vibes, as well as me liking the work their coaches have done. But Brighton victory on the other hand isn’t that bad, Arsenal Fan TV gets then even more ridiculous, hehe. Brighton doesn’t give me the good vibes that Southampton does, but like you, I have absolutely nothing against them.

Let the best team win, though I suspect that is Southampton.

Think I’ll root for Ingsy and Southampton (until some Southampton player dives and draws a pen against us).

Southampton is the correct answer.

Not only because of Ings but also because a win for them puts them above Manchester United.
