Premier League 2020/21 (Part 1)

A shame with Southampton. I had kind of hoped they would beat West Ham.
As for Sheffield United, I don’t know what to say anymore. I think I have said what I wanted to say about it being too late for them to get out of this negative mental spiral. Every loss makes the next game harder. Poor sods ! They are truly doomed.

This is why they’re going to win the league. Bruno and Ole spend time on training and tactics, while Bobby and Jürgen just get their teeth polished all day.

Fair.

To be clear, I think they’re top four in terms of squad quality, and are right in it, but I do think we are the better squad and barring any match fixing (tongue in cheek, although not 100% kidding) should have more points even in a wacky season.

I feel like we’re due some fortune in terms of health. Maybe I’m being irrational, but still. Also, it would be great if, y’know, our big summer signing had played more than 135 minutes of football at almost the halfway point. I know he got COVID and has had some injuries at Bayern but the tackle was a freak (disgraceful) event, hopefully he doesn’t turn into another Matip who sits four games for every game he plays. And I am not disputing we had the rub of green a few times, there were a few times last year where we had big chances for late equalizers missed against us, but I guess my big beef is that their wins seem to be more often than not jammy rather than dominant, whereas I feel like (even if I’m biased) we were generally much more “in control” and not relying on penalties/bullshit goals.

All told: they’re a good side, but not a great side in my opinion.

Well they are getting it done more often than not, thats why they are second in the table, on form I wouldn’t be surprised if they have done better than us since the restart.

We have had our share of not playing well but grinded out results, we however pointed to the mentality of the players while others attributed this to luck.

They are a shadow of the joke we saw at the beginning of the season, Ole looks to have settled them defensively and have shown enough in attack to put them 2 points behind us.

Don’t disagree — I think it boils down to the fact that they’re still behind us while overachieving, whereas we’ve been unlucky on a number of fronts. In a vacuum, both things would return to the mean long-term; however, obviously that’s overly idealistic. Ultimately, though, I think it suggests that we are the better team and all other things equal should be able to finish above them.

I’m not going to lie, it boils my piss United have pulled so close to us. But alas, here we are.

Sam was hilariously passive aggressive post match still banging on about Liverpool. He mentioned us three times. At one point he said it was “much easier at Liverpool than it was here tonight”. So great. His 1-1 draw on Matchday 15 with Liverpool he will have put on a plaque to hang next to his Bolton 8th place finish plaque. Fuck off.

What a joke.

Has he ever won a trophy? I’m inclined to think not.

Also, as “bad” as City have been this year, I refuse to think United being above them means that the latter is better.

Wtf? That’s about as clear a sending off as you’ll see.

Its not about who is better, its about consistency and Utd are in good form right now.

Lets see if they do a Tottenham now that there will be title talk after this result, we saw what happened with them, but this Utd side are playing at a level that could win the title in this weird season.

This is an excellent point, one I have kind of been making for a few months.

This season will be a war of attrition, and ultimately, a points total relatively low when compared to the last three seasons will win it.

Utd are consistently picking up points at the moment. That is an inescapable fact.

Also inescapable is the fact that we will pull their pants down in a fortnight, and I’m telling ya…City will overtake them anyways within a month or two, probably sooner.

:speaking_head: “I am 66 years old and the last thing I want to do is catch Covid. I’m very concerned for myself and football in general.”

Sam Allardyce has called for a break in football action to combat rising cases in the game.

What a joke of a man. Had no concerns when he signed a contract 10 days ago.

Also to be considered: United are in the EL knockout stages, and Thursday/Sunday is less desirable than playing on Tuesday or Wednesday midweek.
