I’d up and leave my job midway through the year if a better one came along and my job does have cycles of high and low periods.
If there’s one thing I would say about any system, from company to country, is that they are all faceless and uncaring with regards to the individual. Life will go on and for them it is probably a good deal - get in someone cheaper and there’s no sacking fee.
