Premier League 2023/24 (Part 1)

Big Sam

Too late.

Turning Manchester United back into winners is more difficult than solving Rubik’s cube, apparently.

There are ten year olds that can solve that shit in 5 seconds.

Shortlist them!

Bench Rashford.

Bench Onana.

Beg DDG.

3 seconds.

It’s lost amidst the Karius/Kyiv fallout, but cannot be understated how much going from Mignoet and Karius (OK but has a mistake in them every game) to Alisson (mistake every fourth or fifth game) was instrumental in going from also-rans to capable winners. Becker can be the difference between a draw (or even a loss) and a win; Mignolet had a few games where that was the case but far more where he cost us.

Yes, as I said it looks like they will be a threat. But it is only October, and being a flat track bully early in the season doesn’t mean you’ll be there at the end of the season.
Yes, they weren’t all that impressive against Luton but they got the three points and in a similar situation we would be glad of the same. Not being great but getting all the points is what can win the league.
Anyway, there’s a long way to go.

Nagelsmann.

Jonny Evans. Interim player/manager.

I’m not saying that based on our game (quite the opposite, we did play with at least three men down) but there’s that Leicester season hanging over my head - they might get lucky as there’s a lot of dross in PL that they will regularly beat, which wasn’t the case last year.

Funnily enough, I find them and Man United similar in terms of having players who can pluck a goal out of nowhere, no matter how the things are going for them on the pitch.

Yeah, I feel conflicted. I think its right to praise them for the improvements they have made. But people need to be rational. At their best they are still not THAT good. Certainly not the standards we’ve seen of recent title winners or challengers. And there is every reason they they will struggle to be at their best often enough through a long season.

Paul Merson’s a bit of a cunt isn’t he? A dip shit one at that.

I misunderstood this on first reading. I thought you were talking about reaching the vinegar strokes

ETH’s taken off his top goalscorer at HT…Casemiro

Maybe if he noticed Mount was on the pitch it’d have been him.

I feel like (not as good as but similar to) Arsenal last year is what Spurs this year is going to be. Gunners were on pace for 100 points at halfway! Other than City, we’re the only team that has proven able to keep that pace, even if only one title to show for it.

I dont think I agree with that comparison. Arsenal were genuinely impressive last year. I think if anything their improvement was under sold for most of the year because people just couldnt get their head around what the arsenal we’d come to know had become. I saw them in pre-season and it was immediately apparent how organized they were and how clearly they understood what they were trying to do. IN the end they werent able to sustain that form for the entire season, at least partially influenced by injuries they couldnt deal with, but for 6-7 months of last year they were playing as a side every bit worthy title contenders. This Spurs side at its best is not close to that.
