I’m glad Arteta is speaking up
But I’m talking specifically about goals that have been allowed to stand by VAR.
Anyhow I think Arteta may think differently if you’ve seen him in his post match
Don’t like Arteta but……he may have a point….
Do you really need me to tap the sign that says “managers should not be taken seriously when complaining about VAR after games in which they have lost, after games in which they were shit, especially when their complaints are so hand wavey and non-specific.“
They have a legitimate complaint about how Bruno stayed on the field. But their complaints about the goal are squarely in the realm of the stuff managers complain about every week. The extent of his complaints are really just one subjective call that the studio analysts seem split on, one incident VAR is not really designed to catch, and one it didn’t seem to have a view one, but that to the eye looked to be right anyway. there’s very little that’s overly controversial about it an the most remarkable aspect is probably that it required 3 successive calls to go against them. I get they’d feel aggrieved. But every losing manager finds a way to spin that stry every week. So to position it the way you are makes you look like you’re auditioning for sky sports
Yeah, I think Arsenal have some serious complaints, but nothing about that VAR was absolutely compelling for me. I never could tell if the ball was out, it looked to me like the ball touched a defender ergo not offside. I did think the Arsenal defender was pushed and should have been called, but I thought that before seeing the replays and the replays didn’t really make me think it was an outrageous non-call
Andy Madley was the VAR at the Newcastle-Arsenal game now who do you guys think is the referee for the Luton-Liverpool match …
He’s a prick.
What was his response after beating City when asked about the non-red card for Kovacic?
“I don’t care”.
And that’s the problem right there. These fucking cheats masquerading as referees need calling out every time, especially when it’s City who are benefitting. But because they won he’s not arsed and we all move on.
Seems he certainly cares tonight.
Yep, like Dave Chappelle says, “It’s only funny when it happens to someone else and not you.”
To be honest that makes no sense. There are three seperate points at which the goal shouldn’t stand. I agree on offside, but the other two are quite obvious. VAR is supposed to make this clearer, its now just muddying the waters.
The decision is a disgrace.
Guimares should have had red. Another obvious call that VAR neglected.
Arsenal were poor yesterday. But they were cheated. Simple as
Someone posted that Bruno wasn’t a clear red because it wasn’t his elbow.
No, it was the whole forearm. Does that make it better?
Try getting one of those to the side of your head at full speed
That’s at least a three game suspension.
Then he would return and soon get his fifth yellow of the season. Another suspension.
With all the injuries they have that could make a huge difference to the outcome of the season.
Atkins let a lot of things go from both sides I wonder if he was under orders because it fits Newcastle style of playing
“The ball was clearly out…”
Being able to see grass between the base of the ball and the line does not in fact mean it was out.
Why can’t they extend the line technology, they nhave it for the goal mouth…does it just stop between the goal posts…if u have technology use it.
Absolute nonsense.
BBC Sport doffing its hat to Newcastle in an attempt to make this shit look fair. I have very little time for Arteta or Arsenal, but what happened yesterday was a travesty.
Angles of cameras, focusses etc can make any picture warped. This is a convoluted effort to make everything well within the game.
A load of bollox.
Man shouting at cloud about how he thinks geometry is dumb
They could but would have significantly expand the tech to do it.
So the technology only covers the goal mouth line…spend a bob or two more, and u wouldn’t have a problem…
I’m certain I’ve seen VAR interventions clearing up whether a ball was out or not along the touch line I thought surely they must have it for the byline too, may have been a different league but just goes to show how far behind we are. Left behind in the dark ages but in desperate need of 21st century aid.
They seem to have taken the view (probably correctly) that it was too close to call. However, the technology to determine this accurately isn’t that hard. They’ve been using it in tennis for years.
No worse than man utilising angles and frames on a kitchen floor to once again justify poor decisions.
