Preston vs. Liverpool: Kangaroo Cup, 19:45 Wed 27th October 2021

I’d rather have Mane not start. Give him 20-30 min at the end.

Williams Gomez Phillips Tsimikas
Morton Jones Ox
Minamino Origi Musialoski

Congratulations.

About Preston , they seem to have a reputation for bringing through young players although that has dimmed lately. Any other young players to notice there ?

I have no idea what lineup Klopp will come up with. I also don’t care as it’s not EPL so not in the competition I’m leading atm. :innocent:

Coote the ‘referee’. Been nowhere near us since his clear corruption at Goodison last season.
They must have been waiting for a pretty low-profile game to ease him back in. Imagine he’ll be on his best behaviour in a futile attempt to show he hasn’t got issues with this football club.

I doubt it. It’s a wonderful opportunity for some old fashion cup ‘levelling up’

Kelleher out so Adrian will be in goal.

I’m hoping to see some Musialowski action, though I hear he has struggled a bit since going up to the next age group.

Missed start of Pep press conference. Did he confirm this?

Adrian? F*ck.

I thought we were practically already up a round in the competition and 1 more win away from a semi-final.

This is now a potential banana slip.

Can’t we have another youth team keeper playing in ?

Pep mentioned Fab may be available this weekend, Kaide not yet match ready and Naby’s injury was just bruised leg.

What! Why! How!

Illness was the given reason he didn’t make the bench on Sunday.

Alisson should start.

Pep? Have I woken up in a parallel universe :flushed:

(George C Scott voice)

“ You’re going back to the front, boy. You may get shot, and you may get killed, but you’re going back to the fighting. Either that, or I’ll stand you up before a firing squad. Why, I ought to shoot you right now, you…”

Seems to suggest he had a little set back.

What I took from that press conference is that stuff is looking good for Saturday but not this one.

Thiago suggested to be back in training, Fabinho should be ok for Saturday and Naby looks ok apparently.

Milner the only long term.

Further indication from Pep that there’s nothing to prevent PNE from playing Sepp.

‘We can’t wait to see Van den Berg in action’

Preston v Liverpool (Wednesday, 19:45 BST)

Liverpool

Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders on Reds defender Sepp van den Berg, who is on loan at Preston:

"If you want to be a chef, you need to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. What would be the message if we sent players out on loan to play good games and then we didn’t let them play?

“I’m in contact with him, he looks forward to it. It’s exactly what he needed, a young centre-half, fighting in the Championship. We can’t wait to see him in pre-season next year.”

Yeah, good stuff, when it’s a low profile loan like that, nothing against him playing against us. Like if it was a 11v11 training match at Kirkby, that’s the same tomorrow basically. He gets to play against better players and we get to see how he does live.

Always look forward to watching the second string players, always hopeful that we can see some players prove themselves although in reality the lack of playing time together often leads to a disjointed performance. Not a fan of playing defenders in midfield, asking for trouble if you ask me, either be it injury or making life more difficult than it needs be on the field. I’d rather start Jones if there is no one else from the academy we trust to start, and look to get the job done early. Also, prefer Mini in midfield than Ox, but I don’t think that Klopp agrees with me!
