It’s basically a stress-free game, this. If we win it, grand enough, but if we lose I’m not arsed, just frees up some more time between more important fixtures.
If we win, depending on who we draw in the QF, my interest (and my cock) might perk up a bit, but until then I remain flaccid.
As you were…
Mine was a jokey comment but yeah if we go out because Adrian can’t move then I’ll accept it or if Coote is being a Cnut again.
With Klopp around we need to take the title and CL seriously as once he goes who knows, I’m not sure how next season will work with the massive gap in the middle of it but those teams who can spunk millions on a third choice right back will be best placed.
The AFCon pretty much makes this unlikely anyhow, I assume they’ve gone back to two legs at the semi finals.
Of course if we win I’ll be happy I always am but it’s just a nice trophy nowadays.
Could not care less about the result. We should concentrate on the PL, CL, FA-cup in that order.
Nobody disagrees with that, but it’s fun watching the kids and fringe players show what they can do while not really being bothered about the result.
I care about the game and I bother about the result. Every game is YNWA. That doesn’t mean I will be devastated if we don’t win. But I will feel really, really, good if we win.
I’d say the main thing is nobody wants is to risk injury to key players in a lowest priority tournament. It is however useful for giving the young players chances, minutes for squad players to keep them match fit should we need them at any point or the chance to give those recovering from injury a bit of a run out.
The team we put out will be reflective of all those things, and the result isn’t important, but I’d worry about anybody who would actively want to see us lose.
By all means keep playing a second string and should we get knocked out - no biggie.
I’m sure that Jürgen and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA
I’m going to this one. Can’t wait. Had many a great night in “Legends Bar” at Deepdale when I was on courses at Fulwood Barracks in 1997.

this is where the fringe players will get their minutes. Oxlade, Gomez, Phillips, Tsimikas, Origi, Taki, Neco, Adrian. This is exactly where they get to prove their worth in retention, by winning cup games and getting the strongest youth prospects some matchday experience at a senior level. These matches are as important to those players as the league matches are to our starting XI.
I wouldn’t play Ox. We have three fit midfielders at the minute and Ox is one of them. He suspect he starts at Brighton.
Have a great evening
Adrian
Williams
Phillips
Konate
Tsimikas
Gomez
Ox
Jones
Minamino
Mane
Musialowski
Try Gomez at 6. He has the football to play there, and it means developing a player for a role if required.
Isn’t Fabinho supposed to be back? If so, I’d expect it to be Fabinho, Henderson and Jones.
Oxlade has only started 2 games this season and the last one was 6 weeks ago. He’d surely benefit more from playing than sitting on the bench.

I get your point, but Ox needs the minutes to get into groove. He’s hardly played at all this season. Off the bench against Man U, a start here, and a start at the weekend is just what he should be striving for.
Without the minutes, he’ll be more than likely to be a passenger at the weekend. And if he does start in midfield today, he needs to show Klopp that he can be trusted. No half assed performance.
I’d like to see konate get more game time. He’s impressed me so far and I think he’s coming into form. Gomez needs more time on the pitch for fitness purposes.
Definitely rest Robo, VVD, Matip and TAA.
AOC needs game time.
Hendo on to play the captain’s role for awhile.
Rest Jota and Bobby,
Start Mane so he can stretch his legs. Rest Mo…
Generally mix it up and play to win but more importantly stay injury free.
We’ve got Brighton next. On paper we’re a stronger side but we’ve pissed away points already this season and every point is valuable.
I would like to win this cup…and the FA cup…and the Premier league cup…and the Champions league cup…this year.
We’ve got a squad capable of doing it. The key in my opinion is to ensure the fitness and experience levels are in place for each occasion.
The formula is still the same though, regardless of the circumstances:
I really think that Klopp and his team are on the brink of establishing one of the most consistently winning teams in history. It has taken awhile but there.is chemistry developing…I saw it crystalized the minute Ronaldo pulled his stunt on Sunday. I haven’t seen such an immediate and instantaneous response by so many players at once in ages…but I digress.
I’d like to see a comfortable 0-5 win…let Sadio score a brace to keep his numbers and confidence up.

hey fellas, this one is a weird match to find on TV. best spots to stream this? @Arminius what’s your go-to for this?
edit sorry nevermind. DAZN picked up the rights for this. nice!
It’s on ESPN+ here in the Midwest
Think Jones needs to start. When he came on at the weekend his touch was poor but improved as the game went on. Think he could do with the minutes. Gomez and Konate at the back as they both deserve / need the minutes, perhaps bring Phillips on sometime in the second half to ‘rest’ one of them and give him a run. But in reality he’s only going to be used this year if we have a major CB crisis again. Origi & Minimino up top as again they need minutes, we might need them in Jan during Afcon.
Not worried about Adrian in goal, he can be good(ish) and should certainly be good enough against a Championship team with Konate / Gomez and Tsimikas in front of him plus whoever is RB.
Would rather see that young Pitugla start over Adrian. Trains with the first team and is one for the future. More use to us than a finished Adrian.
I’d take even Karius over Adrian to see what he’s like now.
