GB, Unfortunately, the argument that homosexuality is ‘unnatural’ has been used as a reason to oppress, torture and murder untold numbers of people throughout history.
As we can see, it occurs widely in the natural world, far more often than your seahorse example, but you say that it is unnatural in humans. Could you explain why it is observed in thousands of other animals, including primates, but is ‘unnatural’ in humans? Homosexuality has been a feature of human society for millennia. Why is that if it is so against our nature?
What is natural? That that comports with the natural world? Is homosexuality evident in nature beyond our social constructs, opinions, posts and rules?
Yes
Job done.
Here’s your problem, a very awkward bit of the bible that’s conveniently ignored.
Leviticus 20:13
“’If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.“
One of the reason’s I fractionaly respect the Westbro Baptist Church is they actually live by this. They have the balls to call for and believe everything in their book. They’re fucking insane but they do have the courage of their convictions. Bring this up with a Witness at the door and more often that not they’ll say “It doesn’t mean that though” You mean it doesn’t mean exactly what it absolutely says?
I know this verges on religion but the oppression of homosexuals is based on a book written by humans 2000 years ago.
just to clarify…Westboro is the Christian equivalent of Islamic militants.
Also, Jesus also said this in Mathew 7:1-3
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged . For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
He also said he came not to change a jot nor tittle of the law. Sorry, you can’t dodge this one.
Interestingly it doesn’t mention women doing the same.
Not really, they don’t actually go for the more violent acts. But they are at least honest about what the book says.
the fact you’re defending their interpretation of a FICTIONAL book which they use to marginalize and terrorize people is fucking disheartening.
who protests a fucking funeral. Fuck them, I hope their “church” gets burned to they ground. they spew hatred and discontent into the world, vile fucking sect. they’re a violent act away from a cult.
I have about as much respect for their “religion” as I do for the Pastafarians.
No, you mis-understand. I’m not defending their actions at all. I think their book is a horrific work of fiction. But unlike so many other flavours of Christianity, they don’t make excuses for the really severe bullshit in the book.
and this is why you have a “fractional respect” for the Westboro Baptist Church? Because they justify hardline beliefs based on a mis-interpretation of a fictional book that was written about an immaculate conception of a baby 2000 years ago.
You know how ridiculous this sounds, right?
It is the old fashioned type
Are you talking about the shop or your haircut? Was there a bowl involved?
I think you’re not getting my meaning or I’m not explaining this. Example, I have a small respect for fans who go to matches through rain and wind for small clubs. My FIL was an Altringham fan. Went to every match even though he knew they’d win nothing and celebrations were few and far between. Doesn’t make me an Alty fan.
I really enjoy discussing religion. I’m good with Christianity. The number of people I’ve engaged with who’ve twisted and turned on homosexuality and whitchcraft is 100% (I think) with the book not meaning this or that even though it’s explicitly stated. As above, Westboro are hidious people but I have a fractional respect for them which I don’t have for the “No, you’re reading it wrong” or “That’s not what it means” brigade.
You might have missed that I actually go to Speakers Corner to argue with firebrand christians. We all have our hobbies.
Had two women at a wedding fair once years ago. Very common the man stays home and the bride and bridesmaids goto wedding fairs. They were about to sign off on a substantial package (stop sniggering) I was writing the details down and asked for the groom’s name.
They swiftly walked off. A mistake I’ll only make once. You see @Mascot we can be educated.
is this the same kind of respect you’d have for flat-earthers? like, contempt?
Maybe you should clarify that sentence, you lucky guy.
Fucking hell. Is there no end to your boasting.
Good question. I’d have a small respect for somebody who believes in the earth being flat and (attempting) to rebuke all the facts and science because they are at least being true to themselves. Fucking barking as they plainly are.
The only exceptions to my rule are United fans. No respect for them. And Tony Blair.
What I can’t stand (after a deeply Catholic upbringing) is the never-ending list of excuses to explain the bible’s uncomfortable text. You either believe it’s true or you don’t. It’s not a buffet.
Oh there was no chance of that. Would have been fun though, ding and indeed dong.
Is this the right place to talk about transpersons in women sports ?
Yes, it’s the ism thread. We went down the rabbit hole of prejudice based on religion. Understandable I think.
You are Georgie Porgie and I claim my £5.
someone kissed them girls and made them cry?
