Ramadan Thread-

To get around swearing during Rsmadan. Make halal words up😂

Astigfirullah= Christian equivalent, lord have mercy on me. Jesus/Mary and Joseph.
It is when you hear something shocking or sinful out of the blue. Eg when Sol Campbell moved from Spurs to Arsenal.

Alot of the food sellers around the world during Ramadan go abit mad when the demand is high.
This pakora seller has had enough of it! :joy: :see_no_evil_monkey:
He is fasting too. He deserves a few days off work and a medal dealing with these customers. Bless him:clap:t2::clap:t2::clap:t2:

Thank you @Maria for this thread. I wish I had seen it early today.
I popped into the local Tesco express earlier, which has a Mosque situated just round the corner, so parking was tight. I was having a joke with one of the car park attendants as one driver reversed into a spot where the only feasible way of getting out of his car was through the Sunroof or boot :joy:. As I left I wished him a good evening but kind of stumbled with my words on how best to address this. I now know :+1:t2:

Thanks @Lynch04 for the appreciation.

I just thought i would start one, just to get through the holy month with good humour. If you say ‘happy ramadan’ passing by, they really appreciate it.

It is symbolic that it coincided with Lent. The eastern orthodox christians do 55 days of some kind of fasting as well. I have been following a few of their instagram pages which is very interesting.

That’s good to know.
I must say I do admire the dedication/commitment to Ramadan. I read up on the 5 Pillars earlier today and realised there were more sacrifices than just fasting.
I think I would fail at fasting and swearing.
Lying and arguing I could do as I don’t lie and if I stay off this site I don’t argue :joy:.

Anyhow, Happy Ramadan

Believe you, me. We are human too. Our tempers rise after the end of the second week.
I was speaking to an auntie the other day, she used a few choice words :see_no_evil_monkey: about her ex son in law who was harassing her daughter.

Alot of the arguments are on mundane things like, who’s turn is it to do the washing up.
Another excuse is, getting out of stuff or errands using Ramadan. Eg, can we do it after Ramadan

the textbook definition of hangry

My policy is, to get out of sticky situations on the phone and arguments are, i got to go, i am at work; my evening prayer time is going to expire, the neighbour is calling me, it is time for Iftar (sunset) i got to go.

I can imagine it is testing, but rewarding at the same time. I am Roman Catholic and so we observe lent (something you referred to). There are similarities, but from my own observation, its importance has become diluted over time, something of which I am guilty of. I definitely need to reflect and take inspiration. :+1:t2:

disclaimer: This observation is only a reflection on my own experience.

My mum taught in a Roman Catholic school and I am currently working in Roman Catholic school. I have been to more Masses than my boss who is a lapsed Catholic. Ironically i used to get As in R.E as i was in a mixed school, we had kids from different denominations such as orthodox, baptists and C of E. So i understand the full rituals. I was always very intrigued about the ritualism of Catholicism. My auntie is practicising Catholic.

The hymns are more modern now and mass is all in english instead of latin. My school is quite progressive for a Catholic school.

This is a first i have heard of it, muslim reggae music. I have seen US rappers sing.

The call to prayer (Adhan/Azzan) Chinese style. My cousins went to China and said the mosques there are Chinese pagoda style on the outside and you cannot tell, but the inside is the same as a mosque interior.
