Roberto FIRMINO: 2021/22

He just came back from injury and Brazil like to play with options, explore new players. Something they didn’t do in past decades and were criticized for. You see now sometimes Ederson playing instead of Ali, Fabinho instead of Casemiro, giving some new talents/players in attacking areas a chance. Their base is strong. If Bobby is fit and at his normal level, I’d expect that there will be a place for him still.

I’ve joked about Bobby photo bombing…but now I’m seriously wondering if there is ever a pic without him…

Thought he was very poor today, needs to be so much better with the amount of depth we have. Some of the passes he missplaced were basic level and nothing to do with the conditions.

Yeah, he’s a shadow of the player he was. Frustrating and sad to see.

He’s not too long back from a rather bad injury, give him time…

Yeah, it’s sad to see a player who’s pure football joy declining with each passing game. The only reason why he’s starting matches is because of the need to rotate in a packed schedule, at least that’s how I see it. He did show good awareness to drop deep and keep the ball against Burnley but you’d expect that from a midfielder, not a centre forward. If this team continues to evolve, I don’t see a place for him in the starting XI.

Wanted him from the start last night, with probably Mane dropping. Inter pose a good concentration of players centrally, they can play out from the back with the likes of de Vrij and Brozovic. Wanted a bit of the Bobby medicine on them. For me, Jota is deservingly playing and starting more and more, but there will still be games when I want Bobby in his role. Sometimes someone else will drop, more on the left side obviously. But nice goal, sense where the ball might go, accuracy.

The No-Look goal king.

The defender is practising his ‘no look’ defending also… :0)

We’ve scored some header beauties in my following.

Luis Garcia’s against Anderlecht is technically speaking, arguably my favourite.

I hope Firmino starts contributing more to our play, then again if he scores all is forgiven until he gets on to the field again. We suffered a real drop off when he came on and he contributed nothing but woe until he scored. Jota does so much more at the moment so I hope he’s ok.

95 goals for Liverpool:

Keegan in 303 games.
Firmino in 316 games.
St. John in 365 games.

Second strikers. :sunglasses:

I loved when the in-match thread was blowing up with all sorts of criticisms as we were under the kosh a bit. Bobby stormed back down our left side helping Thiago and Andy a bit and chased the Inter player about 30 yards. Stripped him of the ball and immediately turned it back up the pitch.

odd that some folks want to replace him so quickly, yet when was the last time we had a striker with a workrate like him? he plays more like a #10 than a #9 and I really feel like he’s a huge influence on the team as a whole, on and off the pitch.

We still remember Ian St.John after 55yrs… Bobby will be in the same category and he deserves it

Bobby’s so good at pressing some times I think he gives the ball away on purpose just so he can win it back again.

During the 1st half and the pressure/tactics, Inter were using, the main outlet for a pass was centrally into the position Bobby usually pops up. We played that same ball a few times to Jota’s feet and he kept losing the ball with poor control, therefore Bobby coming on along with the other 3 subs with fresh legs became a catalyst for us being able to beat the press and control the game,

Disagree in the Inter match, Jota along with Mane & Mo, just kept losing possession, they worked hard but had granite for toes and couldn’t control or pass the ball.

I didn’t think Bobby was at his best but he held the ball up better, although for me it is Diaz that is the best of the front 3 in keeping possession.

He started pressurising Brozovic who in the 1st half had too much space
