Romeo Lavia (DM/CM) Southampton

Bit of a twat aren’t you?

The second… :sunglasses:

Could always offer them £10 million plus fabinho if his deal falls through…since he’s valued at £40 million :grimacing:.

expect to hear done deal later tonight…putting my balls on the line!!

Age isn’t really a reason to doubt this move, given that he’s the same age as Bellingham who most were ready to give the deeds to the city to in order to sign.

Those who have only seen him play against us, and give away a bad goal, I can understand the trepidations. For me there is no doubt this lad will be one of the best in the world if he stays motivated and healthy.

@sweeting has spoken, now everyone else shut the fuck up and kneel!!

Wow, that is some statement, mate.

I wonder if this starting moving shows that the Fabinho deal has fallen through. Maybe the plan was to sign him as Fab’s understudy/successor before the Saudi thing kicked off

I understand this is a weird comparison that not many people here will get but I compare Lavia to Quinnen Williams coming out of Alabama.

He’s physical and fast but also ridiculously slippery with exceptional technique.

I suspect we’ll go back and get this wrapped up quickly.

But I don’t like the fact that first offer even leaked out. It’s one of those things about transfers that I’ve long found annoying - the negotiating through the press. There’s no reason why they couldn’t get this done privately and professionally. Leaking the numbers only serves to draw in more potential suitors.

Tbf there is a huge difference between age and maturity. And Jude has been playing top tier football for a while.

The question is how mature Lavia is with 1 top tier season and a single NT game to his name? I’m not concerned because I feel he will be eased into this team. He’s not expected to come in and snatch a starting position from the first day.

No idea who that is, but I’ll trust you on your judgment!

Now that’s a comparison I didn’t expect.

That will be Southampton. It’s in their interest to drum up some other potential suitors. Or maybe the player’s agent, who knows…

Yes I agree, the fact he won’t be a day one starter is an advantage.

Of course, totally agree that it’s in their interest. Hopefully Lavia has his heart set on playing here.

Possibly, but I’m more inclined to agree with @mattyhurst that it’s the finalisation of Henderson’s move which has facilitated this.

Yeah its a little odd but that’s who watching him reminds me of. More conventionally I suppose Kante would be a comparison but I don’t think its perfect. Kante doesn’t have the same elusiveness or technical quality as Lavia but I’d say Kante is more diligent defensively.

If there is one thing Lavia would have to improve to make it woth us it would be his speed of play, he’s a little bit languid both on and off the ball - this is partly because he could cruise through U21 games where I saw him play most often. I’d love to see him develop that terrier-like counter-pressing that Kante had. He’d be a complete midfielder.

Its weird that the Lavia style remind me Modric and Thiago, very good space awareness and elegant movements. Kind of player born to play midfielder, born to be the controller of the game. And he has size, speed, technique too. This combo is very rare though.

He’s playing for Saints tonight by the looks of it;
