Well, looks like this club have never signed players from Southampton.
Like Lovren, VvD, Lallana - every time the got what they wanted. Its sellers market and Saints are not some idiots that sell their best talents on the cheap. And Liverpool is trapped in a desperate situation, while every club knows we are desperate to sign at least one midfilder /defensive midfielder/. Saints are doing the same with West Ham’s bids for JWP, they did the same with Newcastle with Livramento, untill they got what they wanted.
I don’t know what is the club’s idea in this case - lowballing untill we tire Wilcox to death?
We will be the only top 6 club in this league that will start the season without a fit defensive midfielder /if Thiago or Bajcetic can start a football match after 5 months without football :)/ and it is not a coincidence that we conceded 10 goals in just 3 friendlies /two of them against 2nd division teams/.

Well, Lavia’s negotiations are not much faster. Expect our next bid to be 46,5 mln. pounds and maybe in the final hours of the transfer window we will bid 50 mln. pounds, but by the time Saints will want 60, because they have other assets for sale and more ambiotious teams to buy them, so they won’t need to sell theit top prospect.
Last season Klopp said that we need to stregthen in mdifield and the process had a decent start - MacAllister and Szobszlai. But at the same time the club lost 6 midfielders - Henderson, Fabinho, Milner, Keita, AOC, Arthur /yes, another great transfer of our scouting team, because we wasted the whole transfer window standing still/.

Just been told talks will continue as Romeo #Lavia’s side makes clear the fact they want to sign for #LiverpoolFC this summer. There’s a feeling that the deal’s so close now that it would a big waste to end up at 45M£, bonus included. #LFC considers they already made a huge effort & are now evaluating the situation as written earlier. Wait & see.
