Ronald Araujo (CB) Barca (Loan)

No, not currently. As @redfanman said his availability is relatively decent over the past few years, though not 100%

He is also comfortable playing as a rightback…

Not sure.

He’s been in full training with Barca for their pre-season

Thanks for confirming, that’s a relief.

Just read the Barca comments… awful…they’re happy to see him leaving , calling him still a red card merchant that costs them so much etc. No wonder he had mental health problems. Sigh

No/little money heading out the door on a transfer fee might accelerate the Barcola deal now. With a CB on board we can now put everything we have to into the other priority position of winger.

Maybe there will be something in the pot for after that but I imagine getting a cheap CB that wouldn’t impact our ability to go big on Barcola was a stumbling block for us.

Tbf i dont think our social media lot are any better. Look at the treatment of Gakpo, Konate, Nunez etc, even going back to the likes of Karius or Mignolet. Its a wider societal issue; social media and its impacts on mental health.

Once you put people behind a screen and an avatar the manner in which they feel comfortable behaving changes for the worst. Take our players I listed, yes theyve all had poor seasons with us, but none of them deserve the level of shit that gets freely flung at them online. Once its online though people feel comfortable letting all of the their frustrations out in the worst possible ways.

Tbh if I were I player I’d forgo social media until I retired; dont see how it can have a positive impact on any of them when any mistake will see people trying to tear them down.

Funny. The RCs that cost them games this past season were by Cubarsi

Another Spanish journo mentioning an option to buy, interesting thats yet to be mentioned by an English journo. Would be curious as to what any future fee might be

Reposted by Pearce though, so perhaps tacit confirmation on the English side there as well

Maybe Darwin told him he couldn’t go wrong with Liverpool. We’ve certainly been missing a bit of craziness on the pitch.

If memory serves the last player we loaned from Barca was Arthur?

I feel confident saying this one will go better :joy:

this is a no lose for lfc. its a try before you buy, and we focus funds on other areas of need. next season we can focus on rb/cb if needed

This seems like a very shrewd move. We have a lot of young talent coming in defence, but it’s not there yet! Araujo has had his own issues, which is why I suspect we could even do a loan deal like this. At his best he offers great physicality, decent pace, strength, aerial prowess and can also cover at right back. There’s a heck of a lot to like.

Cautiously optimistic with this one. Seems like a very high potential upside and a very low potential downside. Nice work Liverpool. And we didn’t have a clue! Didn’t hear anything about it, until it was done.
