This war has now a genuine taste of WW1: an almost complete stalemate, with thousands of useless casualties on both sides.
Hard to tell how this will end.

There was mention of a tunnel to Crimea from Russia in the event that the Kerch Bridge gets destroyed.
I think this war will last until Putin is gone. This is his war, not that of the commoner. Russian advances are set up with the cannon fodder leading the charge and proper brigades behind to shoot the ones who are fleeing the battle. The UA Forces around Ardiivka are reporting 500 kill days in the northern flank, they just keep throwing bodies at it.
I’m sorry, but that’s an incredibly large amount of money. we’re at ~day648… That means Ukraine has gone through $171,296,296.30 per day.
Inagine all the useful stuff which could have been done with these $111 billions of public money…
Agree
it’s literally gone. blown to smithereens. What do you figure the damage has been to Ukraine’s infrastructure and housing? About the equivalent?

Yeah US withdrawing support would be disastrous but don’t think Ukraine can just allow a ‘ceasefire’ - the war would have to continue by other means and UKR would be justified with taking it into Moscow etc

Ukraine forces won’t give up if the US pulls its support.
No, but without US support, there’s only one likely outcome. Not to mention that the likes of Hungary and now Slovakia with pro Putin governments in power further erode European support.
It’s not looking good.

yes, that’s fairly obvious at this point.
Personally, I think Hamas was goaded into the Israel attack by Russia/Iran to distract the world from supporting Ukraine.
Who would have thought that in the 21st century, the west would stand by and watch as Russia invades and attempts to annex 1/5th of a sovereign nation next to them. Lays the groundwork for China to invade Taiwan now. Nobody to stop them, the rise of the BRICS and their vast wealth.
Some heart stopping analysis here in a conversation with the excellent Fiona Hill about the geopolitical consequences of a Russian victory in Ukraine , and the way in which we ( or the dysfunctional US Congress to be more precise) are seemingly sleepwalking towards bringing about just such an eventuality.
The veteran Russia watcher is deeply alarmed as Washington reaches an inflection point on the war in Ukraine.
It feels increasingly as if we’re reliving the 1930s

Some similarities, to be sure. This clown seems unclear what happened to Poles and Jews alike back then.
Rabbi says antisemitic attack, hours after Donald Tusk vowed to reform Poland, galvanised support for Jewish community

He knows damn well what happened. The difference is he agrees with it.
welcome to BRICS.
