Thought he was one of our worst players yesteray. Lost possession so many times. We gave him licence to push centrally in the second half (I think tucking Trent more in, pushing Robbo and keeping Salah wide), but overall, that was a weak performance.
This is just a personal preference of mine…
There is no way I would like to play in his position in the same team as Mo Salah…
The fact that he overcomes his obvious frustrations in the way he does, is testament to his overall persona as a footballer and a person… but me, no way would I enjoy doing it…!
Seriously what has happened to him? Can’t score even when he’s offside and one on one with the keeper! I’m getting really worried, as the season goes on he’s getting worse. 7 goals and 4 assists in 24 seems awful for a player like him. But as you break it down it gets worse. 3 goals and 4 assists in last 20, 1 goal and 1 assist in last 10. No goals and no assists in last 5!
This has been the most troubling development for me, Sadio isn’t just out of form, he’s an entirely different player. I was watching highlights from a few seasons ago and both current Sadio and Mo are ghosts of those players.
IMO this is the moment we all knew was coming for our Front 3. We talked about it on multiple threads on TIA the last few years. That we’ve been so reliant on them, and have absolutely ground them into the dirt over the last 3 or 4 seasons with little or no depth behind them, this is the moment literally all of us said would likely come. We bought no quality backup, played these guys in every possible minute we could, stayed with Jürgen’s preferred ‘small squad’, and now the chickens have come home to roost, as the phrase goes.
EDIT: one shot on target, coming in the 84tu minute, is unacceptable for any PL side, and especially for this group of forwards.
Absolutely yes. He’s also doing this thing where he comes to a dead stop to try and best guys 1:1. It’s street ball. Truthfully that style he’s playing he reminds of the version of himself from the 2012 Summer Olympics, just without the same pace.
That’s surely a training thing. We have imo lost a lot of our agression, yes we run around but there’s no direction no muscle. There’s also many more silly niggly fouls creeping into our game. For me it’s one of the continuations from BR’s era that Klopp has compounded signing and encouraging shying away and soft poop. Last hard player we bought was Milner and he’s an OAP!
It wasn’t even bad, very difficult one to take but if he had got on the end of it well it would probably have been a wonderful goal. Strange thing is in the past Mané used to put the difficult ones away, he did miss a good number of easy chances though.
