I really don’t give a shit, to be quite frank.
I appreciate a deal appears imminent, but have Bayern bought him yet? I expect he’s still our player and taking our money for the moment…
Technically true, but I would imagine this gets finalised over the weekend.
But harsh that. Mo Salah has done a lot worse and he’s still at the club, and will be supported. Sadio made a couple of ambiguous comment in response to direct questions, probably not helped by language barrier and his shyness, and the response is ‘fuck him’.
My take on this is that it’s a move that suits everyone. Sadio gets to try his luck in a new league which is what he wanted, we get a good fee for him and an aging wage off the books, which is what we wanted, and Bayern get a proven goal scorer who should do well for them, which is what they wanted.
As I said, absolute legend, and one of the very best. I wish we could have had a year out of him as a nine, but it wasn’t to be.
Him and Gini getting the arse from fans is a bit ridiculous. They were both past 30, and the club cannot carry too many of these contracts. Sadio, just like Gini, who found himself moved on in favour of Hendo, Milner and Thiago.
It’s football, it’s part of the process, and to be honest We should be worried when we’re not recycling the wages of older players into younger footballers.
I’m guessing ZB will say similar about Mo when (If!?!?) he leaves next summer.
Depends on how he leads people on into believing he’s signing a new deal.
For the record Mo has gotten on my tits a bit in recent times due to his agent and contract shenanigans.
At this stage I’m honestly more concerned with how we replace him and his goals rather than keeping him, which I think looks unlikely. I suspect Darwin’s arrival means we look to the CF more for goals than the wide positions, and we may end up recruiting someone who looks more like a right-sided Diaz (very good player but more creative than a goalscorer)…
Agreed. Love the way we don’t have any older players on crazy contracts with Jürgen. We move them on no matter the current ability it seems and after they leave they always seem to decline showing how our boss knows when a player is going to decline.
Those journalists had a whole season to ask Klopp before every game also about Mane and not only about Salah all the time.
Absolute legend, my life will not be the same without him, and my daughters Sadio and Mane are devastated also.
I believe Sadio was annoyed with the Mo attention though, I think it was fair tbh, especially after AFCON when Mo wasn’t playing well, he wasn’t getting subbed and Sadio was when it was clear he was playing better. I had the conspiracy it was to get Mo to feel valued and get him to sign a new deal but idk.
Yeah I’ve gone right off Mo myself. Especially as he hasn’t been scoring for a while. But I’m a fickle fuck and so long as he plays brilliantly this season and we win the PL and/or CL then I’ll forgive the little scamp.
All the best, Mane!
If it is the reported 40 over million GBP, I am inclined to think our transfers team are a bunch of wizards who can literally cast spells on the opposing manager.
Got Sadio for so long and got his peak years winning us trophies and still made a profit
The fee is outstanding business tbf, and great to see our new-look recruitment team standing firm by their valuation for a player who wanted out.
There is a lot of conflicting news on the fee. Let’s wait for the fee to be disclosed to the public.
Yeah, I just saw Joyce’s tweet, which is a bit of a comedown on the fee.
Just a slight aside, reading the comments to that tweet, has anyone noticed this thing of people begging journalists to make transfers happen. Do people honestly think David Ornstein can make a transfer happen?
It’s all a bit pathetic, and reminds me a bit of people abusing soap actors cos they play a baddie.
Seems low? Thought we’d get over £40mil for him.
