Gynocentrism at play here ; so despite being away for over a year we can still overreact to what was a reasonable originating point. Youāre right he shouldnāt have messed with our heads like that, especially on his way out. There was some mischief in his words around the time, such like, Senegal fans will decide it. Belies an underlying frustration to me.
Dont think he will be long from exit either
Ray says Hi
Only 38 ā¦ no wonder Salah was complaining about the lack of assists ā¦
Bye bye and thank you.
Sadio ManƩ and Mohamed Salah both scored in the same match 33 times in the Premier League.
No other partnership have scored in as many of the same matches.
The best duo in Premier League history.
Those Bayern guys are tight fuckers. Roughly Ā£35 m (weāll get the full add-ons, Iām sure) is a steal for a confirmed world-class player who has won everything there is to win, never gets injured, can play all three forward positions to perfection, and is still only 30. Imagine Lewandowski leaving Bayern to, say, Real Madrid when 30. Weād have looked at a fee of 60-80 millions minimum, even with only one year left. De Bruyne would command a similar fee.
But that has always been the story with ManĆ©: he doesnāt get the full recognition his incredible skill, work-rate and sporting spirit deserve. Even in here, people shrug it off as something almost anecdotical (maybe itās just an attempt at managing our sadness to see him go?).
Mark my words, weāll dearly miss him next season. Heās the kind of player who canāt be replaced one for one. Bayern have made some smashing business here, albeit it is somewhat relativized by the good fee we got for Thiago last year. So I guess we can see it as some kind of good-will gesture from the club towards them.
I can understand why heād want to leave. Heās 30 and wants to see another country, another league, having won everything here. Maybe he wants to feel how it is to have at least one guaranteed league trophy in the pocket before the first game has started? Money talks of course as well. My guess is that heāll miss us. Bayern are a cold club compared to LFC, at all levels, and heāll soon see the difference.
Anyway, thanks for all the memories, Sadio. It was great with you here, and all the best for the rest of your personal career. But donāt fucking dare winning the CL with these cunts!!!
My thoughts exactly.
Damn right. Thatās why the silly money clubs werenāt at least enquiring which wouldāve pushed up the price.
Wayne Rooney fell off a cliff at 30, but Mane to me looks like heāll be a menace for the next four years.
I have to say I do agree with you. At best his comment was ill advised and ill timed and at worst crass and disrespectful. The only people who would consider it āthe best answer and specialā were the fans of other Premier League clubs and Bayern. No Liverpool fan would now think it so.
I donāt buy ā¦ oh well it is his second language. I thought he had a girlfriend in the media. Maybe she should have had a word.
If that had been say Kane or Pogba speaking we would have been all over it and and rightly so. I do think we apply different standards to our players.
I wish him the very best of luck but he should not have made that statement at that time.
John Barnes scored 107 goals in 406 appearances.
Sadio Mane scored 120 in 267 appearances.
Here are some other players Sadio has out scored
Ian St John
Kevin Keegan
Albert Stubbins
John Toshack
Fernando Torres
Luis Suarez
Your top ten is always going to be a subjective thing. Whether he makes it, is up to you. But he should be in the conversation. Heās done enough to be.
Ooh thatās an interesting thought. Barnes under Klopp has all the ingredients to be rather juicy
True, but Sadio never graced the cover of a Beatles album.
Numbers were also different at different times in history.
I also feel like our wide players under Klopp have been set up to score in a way they werenāt previouslyā¦
John Barnes scored 107 goals in 406 appearances.
I get your point, but if youāre really trying to be fair you need to acknowledge that Barnes really only had 4 years at Liverpool as a forward in a competitive team. 91-92 ended Barnes as a goal scoring winger and so for a full half of his liverpool career goals were not what he was in the team for, nor was that team particularly competitive. If you limit his record to jus that first four years, the period that people think of when they remember him so fondly and the period when he was in the side to score goals, the stats tell a very different story - 61 league goals in 140 league games.
I also feel like our wide players under Klopp have been set up to score in a way they werenāt previouslyā¦
Barnes really was 20 years ahead of his time in the way he played that LW role. Because he was so good at dribbling and was comfortable hugging the touchline, people were happy calling him a winger, but watch what he actually did for that liverpool teamā¦so many of his goals were in to out runs. A lot of his goals were similar to how Henry played at Arsenal, but a lot of his off the ball runs were what Mane is asked to do this side.
Tough one to take for me since he joined heās been my favourite player, because of his attitude on the pitch and off it.
The type of player we could always count on, unpredictable, humble.
Heāll be a succes at Bayern. He deserves his improved pay in a less physically demanding league.
Big thank you Mane
In the last 2 seasons Mane has suffered goal droughts of 10+ games on 3 occasions. Upto Christmas of last season had 6 goals in 22 games going with an 11 game goal drought. After Christmas and the move to be played more centrally he scored 16 in 27 games with the goals actually coming in 12 games.
